To keep the John Denver theme going, "Hey, it's good to be back home again!" Though i'm not returning to an "old farm".
Got home to a pooch who was uncharacteristically exuberant to see me, so much so that she flipped and flopped around, worming her way through the straps on my backpack and then raced around like a goofball trying to shed it. Only a few hours of sleep for the second night in a row, so I'll aim to catch up tonight. Figured I'd weigh in this morning and then reweigh on Friday after the typical flight water weight drops, but I was at 149 this morning, fully expecting to see 154. Thought that might be off, so after my shower, I checked the other scale and it read the same. OK. I'll take it. Didn't drink enough yesterday, so figure when I'm fully hydrated, I'll probably add a little back because my rings are flipping around like crazy, not tight at all. I think the strays off the plan just stick in my mind SO MUCH that I think I'm doing worse than I am. But not counting calories/points for seven-plus months has been nice for a longtime calculator.
Bill - Your updates remind me we need to file our taxes this weekend. Every paper that is tax-related goes into the folder when it arrives or when I print the pdfs off, so no seeking mission for me. Not too many variables for us this year, so should be fairly speedy. It was cool to see a flock of some small egret-type birds (but not egrets) still going yard-to-yard eating stuff in the grass at my brother's ... they were there in November, too ... now they number 9-10 of them, yard-to-yard. From this highly descriptive note, do you know what they are? White, small heron/egret-like - about a foot high. long orange beak. Not near the ponds, but in yards. Staying in their little group.
Ann - Glad to hear that you had a great vacation and you were able to get a respite from the electronic devices. Wonderful! Good to see you back here!
Lexxiss - I have long wanted to visit the John Denver Sanctuary in Aspen. I need to move that up on my list, I think. Have you been there? One day, my brother and I were talking in the morning last week, and the sunshine was streaming in their living room and he teared up, thinking of the line "sunshine made her cry" ... he's like how sappy can I get!?! But we kept on talking about his lyrics that we love, "It's the sweetest thing I know of, just spending time with you ... it's the little things that make a house a home." They just get to me. Couldn't believe he's been gone so long. Credits for working toward a solution with the impending issues!
Karen - Hope your hike goes well today! You have really worked to build a good circle of those who can join you in your hikes/walks. That's so neat. So many I know have young kids and the time is just not there. I want to work toward carving out quality time for us to be outside or doing something soul enriching for us on weekends now - not just letting it get sucked up by chores and errands that I don't get to during the week. Being outside is always a mood booster when the temps start getting nicer here.
OneByOne - Hope you've been able to wrangle closer to your plan in the past few days! When DH and I started on our reboot in August, that became our main focus after work - it was like a job. Can you put other things on the back burner so you have the time for the food prep/filling fridge with just your on plan choices - or are you set there and follow through is the main challenge? Credit for keeping it as a focus! AND side note, I was reading a light romance yesterday in flight and came across your "all hat, no cattle" line that I STILL love. That line really hit me initially because I'd been saying I need to get off the pot if I wasn't doing something
but I liked yours better.
CurlyJax - Hope you're feeling better, tummy-wise now, and that your rehab is going well. I wondered if the PT would help my arm last summer and was pleased to have found pain relief/strength/range of motion improved in both soon after.
Maryann - You, too, hope you're feeling better here soon! Spring colds are no fun. Sometimes standing down some tempting food IS a good achievement, so hold onto that as well. It all adds up! When does your school year end? Is it a traditional or continuous schedule school?
