eating out

  • Do you have any tips you can share for eating out at restaurants when dieting? Do you avoid it at all cost? Do you plan ahead? Do you default to salad?
  • Eating out is something we avoid as a family. Hubby and I like to make our meals at home and sit down and eat dinner as a family on most days. Sometimes kids have activities which don't allow us to eat together, but we try on most days to eat home made meals, dinner, and breakfast on weekends.

I avoid eating at restaurants because besides being costly, I always feel bad afterwards, like I overate, and it's not worth it.

Sometimes if I don't feel like cooking, I will go through the drive-thru at a fast food such as Chik Fila and order a meal for my kids, but that doesn't happen often.

And yes, on the rare occasions I eat at a restaurant I usually order salad, or fish and veggies.
  • I tend to get the vegetarian option since I'm flexitarian. But a lot of times I do have salad, but I love salad. One of my favorite things to eat.
  • We eat out a few times a month and I always look at the menu online before we go to try to prepare myself with some options beforehand. I am low carb so I can eat a lot of the meat options and will ask for double vegetable side or salad in place of carb foods
