Down to an OLD setpoint

  • This morning I was down to an old setpoint - it was the few pounds I'd gained after my hysterectomy 8 years ago. I'd been disappointed then that I gained anything at all. But then I gained a bunch more and have spent these intervening years at various points within 30 pounds higher that that setpoint and everywhere between. Now after the third of three subsequent surgeries, to repair hernias, I'm back down to that setpoint.

Next mini-goal will be to get to the weight at the time of the hysterectomy, and then I guess just 10-pound increment losses from that. Not sure of my ultimate goal as it's been so many years and if I set it too low at my age I might risk bone or muscle loss. It may be a case of "I'll know it when I see it." It might be 40 lbs. less than the weight at time of hysterectomy, then see if I want to go another 10 or just stop there.

Feeling thankful and eager to keep going!
  • Congrats on your loss! Your incremental goals sound like a good idea. It's funny how we wish we could get back to the weight we were when we first thought we needed to lose weight, lol!
