My username for MFP is: tstrausberg

    Anyone can add me
  • I use sparkpeoople.com I am sansan3169 on that one. I love sparkpeople.
  • Oh yeah I forgot about Sparkpeople, I use Sparkpeople too. My username is: tstrausberg, I use alot of weight loss tracker sites
  • Hay so MFP name is Caireen89

I have no idea how to add people on it lol so please add me lol.

What is your daily calories set at?
  • Mine is 1200
  • Do you find the 1200cal makes you feel full and gives results?

I am currently 306.6lbs MFP suggests to be under 1700cal but I set mine to 1500cal because I wasn't seeing results. Most days I am around 1300- 1400cal but need to learn what to eat for when I get lower and need to lower my calories too.
  • Yes I feel full eating 1200 calories a day and I do see results from eating just those calories
  • there is a calorie calculator on MFP - I used to have trouble finding it but it would give you the # of calories you need to loose weight and keep it off
check with new weight each week if you need to adjust calorie amount good luck with it
  • I love myfitnesspal! I use it to count calories from food and I have it synced with my fitbit. I track all my exercise using my fitbit so when I sync the two every day, it tells me how many extra calories I've gained based on my activity level.
  • Karen - Good Luck as well
  • The two people who listed their mfp usernames: I've added you!
  • Yay!! soo many MFP groupies

When I haven't tracked I put weight on or maintain. It literally is my daily bible that reminds me everyday to make sure I pay attention to what I am shoving in my mouth lol

I had no idea how many calories were in things I ate everyday. There are still people out there who are not aware of it either. Keeping a journal of what you eat each day is great, but unless it tells you that you over ate on that meal, then is it not just a bit null and void? It has taken me years to learn about food, measurements, portion control, what my body can and cannot eat.

    Best App Ever!
  • wow, some of you guys are eating way fewer calories than I am - I am struggling at 1700 (my Drs had previously given me 1800) - kudos to you. I also enjoy MFP, and am just getting started with it - hopefully I get the hang of how to add people sometime soon. What is the benefit of adding people on MFP?
  • Lostbutstilltrying Don't worry that you are on more than us, there are plenty of factors that differ. For example, current weight, daily exercise, and health is important. I naturally eat very healthy, which allows me to make better meal choices which fill me up on less calories. I also walk around 5,000 steps every day, some days slightly more, some slightly less, so I am not overly active, which means I do not need as much food to keep me going.

There are certain things that I used to forget to add: tea, gravy, sauces. I then realised that I was only lying to myself and no one else. When I started honestly tracking my foods I was around 1800 cal like yourself. I then started to weigh sauces, stop using butter or spread on my bread for sandwiches, cut down on sugar half a tea spoon at a time, start drinking bottles of water when out and about instead of a soda or a lemonade. All of these little things, they dropped my daily calories down to around 1400, or 1500.

By the way.... Do you like Stirfry? It has been my saviour. Over here in the UK we have microwave rice which has 2 portions. We also have frozen veggies in a microwave bag. Add in some turkey and a sauce and voila! A dinner for 2 for under 400 calories. It is also very filling

I like having the friends on MFP because we can only see weight lost and calories burned. Sometimes seeing what exercise other people do can motivate me. It is always sometimes nice to see other people loose weight while you do. This can sometimes discourage people who are not loosing, but it shouldn't. The community can really help people get out of a slump.

    good luck
  • That is all very helpful, I will definitely work on figuring out more MFP features.
