  • Hi everyone! I'd like to join this thread. I use two scales: home and at Medifast. There's a 2 lb difference. MF scale reads in 2 more lbs then my home scale. Weight I record at home will indicate so.

  • Weighed in today at 264.4! The scale is finally moving again I got to 265 a few days ago but the scale kept bouncing up to 268-269 and then would creep down to 266.6 again and again I don't know if I'll reach my goal of losing 10 pounds this month, but I'm just glad the numbers are going down again.
  • Hey Laifierr! Great job seeing it through that plateau. Congrats on your drop! Keep going!

We are more than happy to have you join us! Welcome to 30! My birthday is next month as well and I'm turning 31. What kinda plan are you doing?
  • Thanks for the warm welcome leopardspots! When's your birthday? Mine is Sept 20. My husband's got a month to plan something special!!!

I'm going to get back to what worked for me in the past, calorie counting at a pretty low deficit, I ate between 1650-1700 calories so I'm trying to get back to that. Took over a year but I felt like it was a healthy/sustainable way, obvioulsy it wasn't but I gained half my weight travelling for 2 months and the other half adjusting to delicious foods back home- I had lived in Korea for quite awhile so I definitely gorged on foods I couldn't eat there.
  • needtolose,

My birthday is Sept. 16th. My husband doesn't do surprises. Or celebrations. At all. So I already picked out a handbag I wanted. LOL.

Lifestyle changes are much better than diets. I am doing the same thing, just watching my calories and eating clean. And I broke up with bread and pasta.

Its near impossible to sustain a healthy weight when traveling all the time. The increased salt is devastating. I'd love to go to Korea! What were you doing there? Teaching?
  • leopardspots- my husband doesn't do suprises either but he's trying his hardest to plan something since it is the big 3-0!

I'm surprised you want to go to Korea, I feel like nobody wants to go, I really didn't until I ended up there. I guess it doesn't have a ton of tourist sites to advertise for but it really is a beautiful country and has great food if you like spice. And yeah, it was for teaching. I was there for almost 5 years and now finally adjusting to normal life back home!
  • needtolose,

I LOVE to travel. Especially places no one else wants to go. I went back packing in South America for a month with my husband last summer and my girlfriends and my mother thought I was nuts. Of course, I live in the US now and most people don't know much about cultures other than the US or Western Europe. A lot of Americans don't have to time or means to travel either.

Korea is definitely on my list. They have gorgeous national parks and fantastic art and architecture. If (when) I go, I would want to visit Haeinsa & Bulguksa temples, Kwanghan Pavilion and Jeju island. Did you make it to any of these places?

The only Asian country I have visited thus far is Turkey, but I'm hoping to get to Korea, Japan, and China sometime. 5 years is quite a long time and a heck of an adjustment. Are you continuing to teach in your home country?
  • leopardspots,

I love travelling too, unfortunately it's on the backburner right now as we're looking at buying a house and can't afford to do both!!!! Backpacking around South America sounds like so much fun. I've been to Brazil and Peru but there's so much more to see and do. And honestly I went to Brazil for the World Cup last summer so there wasn't a ton of sightseeing.

I can't believe you know so much about Korea, I'm really impressed. I did manage to check out all of those places on your list and they all are beautiful. Travelling around Korea was something I really wanted to make sure I did. My husband and my goal before we left was to make sure we hit up every national park so we got all those in as well.

Being in Korea for so long allowed me to travel to a ton of East/Southeast Asian countries which was kind of the reason I lived overseas, I've been to China, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia and honestly I'd recommend them all. If you ever plan a trip let me know and I'll give you some tips!!!

I'm not a teacher here in Canada, I definitely got my fix after all the time in Korea. I'm not a certified teacher so I was using Korea to determine whether I should go to teacher's college or not. Not going won out! My husband, who is American (we met in Korea) is a teacher but also decided to go a different route. So I currently work in administration. What do you do?
