Exercise is definitely my DOWNFALL!!!

  • I was watching the news last week and heard the story: " exercising makes you fat: studies have confirmed." Then they added:" at least the first few weeks/months when you start before your weight stabilizes."

That's my life story. When I watch my diet without exercising, I do well. Which is the reason why I thoroughly avoided exercising for 6 months now. Until then losing was relatively steady.

I just started a 10k program (about 3 weeks ago) and I'm becoming a food pit again. Nothing alarming yet, but I know all too well where this is taking me.

Even though exercising significantly slows down my diet, my body still gets slim and toned. Only at a lower pace.

Anyone relates and has tips for something like this?
  • Yeah, you might eat more and there will be water issues as well.

My main advice is eat clean and healthy. Not cr@p. If you are reaching for the processed carbs (sodas, chips, candy, bread, ice cream) then you are potentially on a slippery slope. But if you eat lots of healthy stuff then that should both fuel your exercise and help keep your weight loss goals on track, or at least steady.

Here are some of the foods I eat and I work out a lot:

Fish, oats (used to), dried fruits (prunes, apricots, dates, figs, cranberries), nuts (almonds, walnuts), bananas, a little very dark chocolate, eggs, kale, spring greens, kim chi, feta cheese, guacamole, onion, olives, dried tomatoes, garlic.

So, there is some high calorie stuff in there, lots of protein and some carbs too but all healthy stuff that doesn't spike my blood sugar too much and doesn't seem to go on as fat.
  • Hi IanG. Thanks for replying.
Actually I've been craving to have a mouth full of foods. That's an awkward way of saying it. My cravings are most at times slow carbs like rice, pasta or bread AND proteins: chicken, fish, meat, egg... It is just that I feel like eating huge amounts of those, which I haven't done in about 6 months.

Though I'm familiar with cravings, this is the first time it's about the food AND the quantity of food.
