    Today

    Tomorrow

  • Today didn't go quite like I planned. Actually I think the morning started off nice with a walk with the dog to see the sunrise. However, no sunrise this morning with all the fog. However, I did get to trim a tree that was in much need. So I got two things done today that I wanted. Everything else just went haywire, but I noticed I was a little calmer and was more flexible with today's activities.

  • 9 Steps To Mindful Eating
    Struggling to lose weight?

Here are 9 things to consider next time you're at the dinner table.

There’s more to savouring a meal than simply avoiding screens and
eyeballing your food as it goes from fork or spoon to mouth.
At Austria’s F.X. Mayr Health Centre, where he is medical director,
Dr Stephan Domenig encourages a silent dining room and spends a great
deal of time teaching people how to re-think their relationship with food.
Mindfulness is a critical part of that process. In his book, The Alkaline
    Cure
, he outlines the following tips for truly mindful eating that will help
you better enjoy and digest every mouthful.

9 Diet Tips for Mindful Eating

    1. Allow at least 30 minutes at the table for each meal.

    2. Make sure you are comfortably seated.
Take a couple of deep breaths to settle yourself.

    3. Notice any feelings of impatience and urges to just get on and eat
the food. Stop thinking of things you need to do. Dedicate this time to
    enjoying your food.

    4. Look at the food on your plate. Appreciate its visual qualities.
Smell your food and breathe in the mouth-watering aromas.

    5. Think about how much food you put on your fork – the less the better.

6.When you put the food into your mouth, appreciate the different
    flavors and textures.

    7. Chew well, around 30 times is the minimum. Ensure the food in your
mouth it fully masticated before you swallow.

    8. Put your fork down between bites.

    9. Resist any urge to rush to dessert, the next bite of food, or
to get up and do something else.

  • Renee-did you get your hay in before the rain?
  • Corinna - we haven't been able to cut much yet. We need 3 dry days in a row and it just isn't happening. Just have to wait for Mother Nature to smile on us.
  • Hello girls
We got back home from our camping vacation today. 2 hours later Dh & I left for appointments to different cities, Dh got 3 dental fillings for cracked enamel. I saw a dermatologist for hair loss in several areas; I was diagnosed w alopecia areota a immune system problem that's also common w children to adults. I feel blessed to this happened to me @ 60 instead of being a child or adult under 50 years old. Because it's a autoimmune disease, hair can't b transplanted. There r only 3 treatments to try, to stop the hair loss & possibly regrow hair after that loss.

I've had long, thick, wavy, dark blonde hair until 2 yrs ago when I began ignoring my hair thinning while combing it after showering, thinking it was a normal part of menopause. Then this spring I was told by my hair stylist to see my doctor about my alopecia I was dumbfounded & she showed me some balding spots.

This is the first time in my life that I actually wish I was a male, w their baldness being acceptable in our society.

During our camping trip I gained weight, so to take it off I'll have to "Eat Clean" for months I suppose We ate all the typical camping food including smores. I'll b rereading Corinna's posts & trying them.

Dh killed half the ants, but the mosquitos r worse. Ok that's enough about my problems today.

I'll b in the morning for personals.

  • Still raining here in PA. Had some really bad storms last night, but we were spared any damage.

    Yesterday:
    B - oatmeal with strawberries
    S - banana
L - ham and cheese sandwich
    S - grapes
    D - chicken salad
  • Renee-Hope mother nature gets in a good mood soon for your area.

Dee-welcome back! Sorry to hear about your illness and hair loss.
Yes, males have an advantage these days with baldness becoming more
and more of an attractive feature in male appearances. Wish it were that
    simple for women too.

Camping seems to be a good family outing to do right now. Hubby, dog,
and I plan on going out a couple of days to camp. I won't be gone too
long, just for one night right now.
  • Think Before You Eat

  • Back from our camping venture. It turned into a sightseeing trip rather than a camping trip. We are back home now.
  • You can make the time if you really want it.

Just taking little steps during the day counts.
It all adds up to obtaining that thin new you.

  • Hi all,

Corinna, so true about Making time vs Having time! We have to prioritize the activities/exercise that will help us get to our goals.

I spoke with my son yesterday who is an intern in Calif. this summer and one of the first things he did after arriving there was join a gym. He works out at least 4 times a week and says he's getting in very good shape.

I now feel guilty that I haven't MADE time to get to my own gym, although I have been walking a lot because of the nice weather. I will strive to MAKE time to get there at least once a week in the summer.
