NSV in food

  • I've really been focusing on limiting the processed food out of my family's diet for a while now. But kicking up the weightloss attempts I have gone pretty strict on the processed food especially for myself. This NSV isn't mine, but it is.....My healthier eating has been rubbing on the kids. The more veggies I eat the more they eat. So instead of crackers they have been asking for fruit or a veggie. This morning as I was cutting up a bell pepper to cook with an egg for breakfast, my two year old came and and began asking for a bell pepper and stood there and ate the bell pepper while I prepped. The other day I made a veggie stir fry with some left over rib meat thrown in, the kids chowed down on two plates of veggies. They are now asking for veggies over other things. So yeah, I'm gonna call this a NSV....because my healthy eating is making a good example for the kids. I may not be a thin mommy, but I am a mommy teaching her kids how to enjoy fresh fruits and veggies over processed food!
  • That is an awesome story! I have a five year old, who refuses to try anything outside of what she thinks she likes. I would LOVE for her to get to this point. She will eat some veggies, salad, green beans and broccoli only. And, she will eat watermelon, apples and grapes for fruit. But, refuses to try other fruits. I could only hope that by changing my eating I could also change hers. I would love her to love all veggies and prefer those over snack foods.
  • Awesome job ShaDucky! I noticed that my kids now drink more water after watching me drink more water.
