  • Hi guys! Sorry for my absence, work has been absolutely nuts the last couple weeks. Hope I didn't miss anything too major, I don't have time to catch up. Just wanted to check in and say hi!
  • Oscar is headed downhill. We had made an appointment for an exam at the vet's tomorrow, but I think it's turning into an appointment for a trip over the rainbow bridge.

He is just not feeling very good at all anymore, and we don't want to keep hanging on to him.
  • So sorry, JayEll. It's never easy.

One of the toughest experiences to go through.

    Yes it is. So sorry.
  • Hugs to you and Oscar. Will be hoping for good news and preparing for sad news. Love him up in the meantime!
  • Hugs and peace to you and Oscar at this very difficult time.
  • to you and Oscar Jayell.

  • We have the "F" word in our weather forecast today - "FLURRIES" .

Good thing I ordered new snow boots and have got one pair, am sending one back, and have another pair arriving this week. Kinda shocking how 20 years of walking enlarges the feet. Because I wear layers I now have to order my winter boots in a 9 1/2. I wore a 7 when I started out.

  • Sending supportive thoughts to JayEll and Oscar. Been there - with the only ease knowing that it was right for my Aussie.
  • My condolences, JayEll. You've provided Oscar with love, care, and a wonderful life.
  • Dagmar, the cold front gripping the middle of the US is headed our way and after so many lovely days of Indian summer, we're looking at snow showers over the next few days and highs in the thirties this Saturday. Unfortunately, that's a day we had planned for an outing to Salem. We never feel like fighting the crowds during October so we decided to check it out after Halloween. I guess we missed the window; we should have gone last weekend.

LOL - thanks for the laugh!

DD got a job offer! She graduates in May and the job would start in July. It is in NYC which she was looking for but the last couple weeks she has been thinking of looking in Southern Cal. I don't know why she doesn't want to live in Monterey where her job was this summer! It was perfect! "Not enough to do..." per her.
She has a couple weeks to accept. I don't think the money is that great, it's much more than I make in FL, but it doesn't sound like much for NYC. But it's right in the middle of offers two of her friends accepted so it must be average. The company does have CA offices and offices in other cities so there is the chance of transferring some day.
I think she is going to be in shock when she sees the type of place she will probably live in because she's been very spoiled in her dorms - upper west side and very roomy. I'm thinking she will have to leave Manhattan and commute in. But, she will have to figure all that out. At least she won't have school loans.
  • Darn cold snap! We'll be leaving our wonderful 75ish daytime temperatures tomorrow afternoon and heading to SLC to be greeted with freezing rain from a second Alaskan storm hitting the Pacific Northwest today. We might see (probably will see) snow. This desert rat just doesn't like the cold. I mean, we still have our windows open 24/7 here! Ugh. The things we do for family.
  • Very, very happy person here! Family has agreed to break with tradition and go out to eat for Thanksgiving. This will take a lot of stress off my MIL, who is recovering from a mastectomy a week and a half ago. By the way - thank you all for the good wishes ... all the nodes were clear and prognosis is pretty good. Anyhow, this way she doesn't have to worry about people in her house, going to someone else's house, figuring out what to bring ... she can just enjoy (hopefully) the family.
