November Pack Up the Scale Challenge!

  • Hey ladies (and gents)!

    I've been really enjoying the monthly and seasonal challenges every month, and weighing in on a daily and weekly basis has been very illuminating, but I've been thinking that for November I'd like to try something different: putting the scale away completely!

    Basic plan is this:
    - keep eating healthy
    - continue current exercise plan
    - don't step on the scale AT ALL from November 1 until December 1!

    I thought I'd see if anyone else wants to try this with me. It's basically a month of practice maintenance.

    I'm planning to record starting measurements, weight, and take a couple before pictures, at the beginning of November, and then December 1 check back in with new stats and pictures. In between we can use the thread to talk about how we're feeling health-wise and if we have any NSVs.

    Who's in??

    Underanalysis - this is a great idea, especially with your ever-increasing weight work outs. Nice healthy approach for anyone at or near maintenance. But I cannot join, for I am one of those people who need the scale's nagging presence - I go off the rails at the scent of a Hershey bar. Surely there are near goal or maintainers who can do this?
  • Thanks for the support, Mountain Mamma!

    I'm really committed to doing this, so I don't mind if I'm doing it all by myself. It should be a fun exercise regardless.
  • Had my last weigh-in for the month (post-Vacation) this morning.

    Starting stats:
    Weight: 131.4
    BF%: 22.8
    Arms: 11.5"
    Bust/Underbust: 34"/29"
    Waist: 27.75"
    Hips: 37"
    Thigh: 21"
    Calf: 14"
  • This challenge is already much more challenging than I expected it to be! Even though it's been less than a week, I was so in the habit of weighing as part of my morning routine before, I've been tempted each day to pull out the scale and check. Resisting has been sooo tricky, but I'm holding out so far.
  • Good for you! And you're doing this challenge kinda on your own -- double tough! So congratulations!

    I know I went through a transition when I went from weighing weekly to weighing monthly, and it took a bit of mental energy to let go of the scale. But it was fine and I got used to it.
  • I'm a daily weigher. So I can't put away my scale either. But we'll be her cheering you on.
  • Thanks for the support, Gina and Mrs Snark!

    Two weeks in and it's definitely easier than it was.

    I was bad at working out this week, but I took measurements yesterday and I'm definitely down a bit:

    Arms: 11.5" -> 11.75"
    Bust/Underbust: 34"/29" -> 33.5"/28.5"
    Waist: 27.75" -> 27.5"
    Hips: 37" -> 36.5"
    Thigh: 21" -> 21"
    Calf: 14" -> 14"
  • You are doing great! We applaud your ability to hide the scale!
