Do you really know what you look like?

  • I finally did it - 22.5% smaller than I thought I was. I placed myself almost in the middle of the chart, but it had me as the smallest. On the same rate, my measurements are small because I'm short - a size 2 on a 5 foot woman or on a 6 foot woman looks VEEEERRRY different.
  • Quote: Also, the body shape thing is absolutely not correct...
I don't know that I'd say it is "absolutely not correct" though it is a tad inaccurate. My analysis was spot-on....I am definitely a strawberry. And a few other people - hourglass, pear - have thought it was correct.

As I said before, do some research and look at other sites to determine your body shape, especially if you think the conclusion reached by this site is in error.
  • Huh.

I knew I kind of saw my body for what it was, but I didn't think I'd be a "perfect" hourglass! I always thought of myself as a "rectangle"/"apple" shape (but then... when you look around the media and you see Kim Kardashian with her ridiculously curvy curves, any natural hourglass pales in comparison, hahaha!). I never realized that my bust and my hips are the same size, until now; I always thought my butt was a little flat and my hips kind of narrow in comparison to the boobage.

  • I am a perfect rectangle. I chose halfway between the biggest image and the one next to it because my waist is so big, about the same as my bust and hips and all the other images showed a defined waistline. It said I was 17% smaller than I thought.
  • I'm 15.8% smaller than I thought I was, oi. I thought I'd swing the other way, I'm very surprised. It also said I am a "perfect" hourglass, which is spot on - or it was, 75 pounds ago

That was an eye-opener, thanks for sharing it. I thought I considered myself smaller than I really am. Huh.
  • I'm the "perfect hourglass" and i guess accurately on how i really look but there are days when i look in the mirror and think WOAH, i cannot believe that i'm that slim and other days i'm terrified to look for fear i might see a fat person again.

Also i can very quickly become a boxy apple as i put weight on in midsection and i carry loose skin all over my abdomen which really camoflauges the hourglass, much to my chagrin as a tight torso was what i was really hoping for at the end of weight loss.
  • "you are 2.5% larger than you think you are..." Ha!
  • I've had so many instance like this. When I was a freshman in college a couple years ago now, a friend and I were going through clothing another friend wanted to get rid of. The friend getting rid of stuff pulled out a pair of pants and said they were too small for her, the other friend said they were probably too small for her too but would probably fit me because I had the thinnest legs- and yet I had always considered my legs to be the thickest!
My other friend was saying how she wants to lose weight, and I mentioned that I'd like to lose a little bit too. Her reaction was, "But you're so tiny!"
But of course, I have another friend who has called me pudgy -_-

I hate how distorted our self perceptions are. I think it's a mix of things though- being hard on yourself and also mirrors flattening images so it's hard to tell what you really look like.

is nice too, we need to have more women of different shapes and sizes in the media. Skinny and narrow hipped is not the only body type!
  • Yeah. Didn't work well for a guy...well some of it did...

    you are the perfect strawberry

Strawberry: You're broadest at your shoulders, with a smaller waist and hips. You've got a great shape for creating curves, so make sure you accentuate your lower half for fantastic silhouettes in any outfit. A sweetheart neckline will give you an attention-grabbing look, highlighting your collarbone, while an empire line or belt will accentuate your waist. Team with a skirt that shows off your legs and a show-stopping pair of shoes to match!

SHOW OFF YOUR FAVOURITE BODY PART

Bum: Nothing shows off a good bum like a pair of great-fitting jeans. Have a pair of slim leg jeans on hand for when you need a quick outfit to really highlight your favourite feature. A figure-hugging evening dress will have the same effect, especially if you dare to go backless! Team with a great pair of heels, which will elongate your legs and accentuate your behind.
  • LMAO, Ian. You are too funny!!
  • It says I'm 20 % smaller than I think I am, and I'm a perfect pear. The problem with that is I have no hips but a large rear end. I consider myself a rectangle. I don't think anyone would consider me a pear if they saw me in person. It was still a neat little app.
  • Interesting! I guessed I was 5% bigger than I am. It says I'm a perfect pear but I don't think that is accurate.

Edit: Just saw Ian's post LOL! Throw on some heels why dontcha? :P
  • This is awesome. I liked looking at the picture of the person 7.5 smaller than me and being like... maybe I look pretty good : p
  • 5% bigger than I thought I was...

Yikes, I didn't think I was as big as the biggest model, but it turns out I am. A bit of a shock, really.
  • Wow, I'm 17.5% smaller than I thought. That made my day. I always wonder how big I really am.
It also said I'm a perfect pear, but I don't think that's accurate. I have broad shoulders, and I think pears usually have narrower shoulders.
