Just wondering…

  • When you see after photos a persons face seems to drastically change. And this has me thinking. How will my face change. Will it be a shock to me? Has anyone else thought of this? Or has experienced this? Just curious.
  • My face changed a lot. I just looked at an old passport photo of me from fairly close to my highest weight (within 20 pounds, I'd say) and though I had four less children and was only 20 years old, I looked older than I do now - eight years later! It can be a bit of a shock to get used to but honestly I only see it in pictures. I lost weight slowly enough that I don't notice it in the mirror, it takes my brain a long time to catch up with physical changes in EITHER scale direction (When my weight jumped up I still 'saw' myself thinner, then when my weight dropped my brain still 'saw' my body fatter).
  • I always look in the mirror or in photos and try to imagine what I will look like with a thinner face lol I think it is really hard to imagine.

I can't wait though I so hate my double chin area
  • I had a fat face from the time I started gaining weight when I was 8 years old. I had no idea what my face might actually look like if it thinned down.

The 10 pounds I lost between 200 and 190 all came off my face. I had this huge glob of fat all along my jawline and it just vanished. The difference was crazy. And the funny thing was that I got a new hairstyle at the same time and people didn't even recognize me - even people I saw on a regular basis. That was pretty much the most bestest week ever.

Here's a pic so you can what I mean...

So, yes, if you're not one of those lucky fat girls who have a skinny face, be prepared to be shocked by a big change. Also, very very happy.
  • I've definitely wondered what my face would look like. People have a habit of telling overweight people that we have such a pretty face, and we would look so beautiful if only we lost some weight. One major fear is that I'll lose weight and still not be happy about the way my face looks. But there's no way I'm going to let that stop me from trying to get there anyway.
  • It's fricking nuts. People don't recognize me. If you have ever been normal weight at any age, look at those pics and that face is what you are getting. If you've never been normal weight, you are in for a complete surprise!
  • I think about this a lot. I actually really like my chubby cheek s, what if I'm not add adorable when I'm thinner? Lol. But then again, it'd be nice to look a bit more like an adult.

I really hate when people say that! As far back as I can remember my mother taught me "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything!"

Just recently I came across a picture of myself when I was thin and my face looked very different. I think this is the first place everyone loses.
  • My face has changed dramatically. I think for the better I was probably most excited to see how my face would change as opposed to any other area bc I was very unhappy with how it looked. The down side now is its really obvious if I'm tired/not feeling well and I think sometimes I can look a little "sickly". My nasiolabial folds have become more apparent, but my sister(who's very thin and 4 years younger) has them too, so I think that's more just how our faces are I'm honestly still not used to my facial changes. Especially as I get closer to goal, 2-3lbs can impact everything it seems!
I'll include some pics. First was at 200ish, 2nd at 190ish, 3rd few weeks ago, and 4th was taken yesterday.

  • It's funny that my mind always saw the same exact face in the mirror at 223 pounds and 147 pounds. It is only when I see photos of myself that I see the change in my face.

While to other folks the change in my own face was drastic, for me it wasn't at all.

Daaaaaaamn girl. That is a huge difference and you are stunning!

Nope, not so for me. I went from 275 to 190 with pretty much no change in my face at all. My face fat just suddenly vanished between 200 and 190.
  • i have noticed as well as other parts of my body but still learning to see my current face as there are times i still see my old self. Picture comparisons really detail though just how far i have come and progressed in the last 8 months. Adjusting your mental body image of yourself is as much a journey as your physical change.
  • Wow…all your posts are amazing! And the photos !!! Thanks everyone! I can't wait to see mine. Even with the loss so far I'm noticing that my collarbone is very visible. Where before it was totally hidden. Small thing I know. I can't wait to have a jawline too lol. X
  • I think about it sometimes, but it's hard to imagine since my face has been round since forever. I kinda like that people think I am 10+ years younger than I am. I'm hoping that I don't look too old or weird when I lose the weight.
