Energy Needed

  • Can anyone suggest a supplement to take for energy and to avoid that
drop in sugar around 3 pm?
I have been watching my calories and carb intake..
by 3pm.. While im busy at work, im just tired and get cranky.
and then tend to snack wrong. --
or I am starving when I get home.
Any suggestions? older I get worse it gets.
I would like to change to low carb diet. But I have to get my kitchen in order. just seems like so much work.. to eat less .

I am trying to avoid sugar. Before I am officially a diabetic.
I don't drink Coffee, or tea.. Maybe 1 caffine product a day.
I try to avoid bread, pasta, but I tend to give in at night more, because im so exhausted.. Thinking maybe I could take a supplement after lunch that would help with this. ? Any suggestions?
  • Maybe a hard boiled egg around that time or a little earlier so you don't get to that state? It's low carb, pretty portable and can be made ahead.

As far as supplements, I'm not recommending, but will tell you what I take that is working for me, a multivitamin call Alive Women's Energy, Nature's Way, there's been a lot in the news lately about vitamins so you have to decide what you want to do on that front.

There's a poster on the wall at work that says to take a 10 minute walk to increase your energy.

    Best of luck to you
  • I agree with the egg, or maybe a 2% cheese stick. I do one of those and an orange many afternoons. I also take a high quality multi-vitamin, fish oil, and a B Super-complex vitamin both at breakfast and lunch. Not sure which works, but I rarely get tired and cranky. I don't mess with it, because whatever it is, it's working. With the snack, I'm also not getting home and eating bad things because I'm not "starving", and can take the time to cook what I had planned for dinner.
  • I take Vitamin D, B12, and Calcium pills in the morning. Usually helps to get me going.

But I struggle with the afternoons too. Been trying to get my sleep straighten out so that I can be more consistent with that. I'm going to try the snacks mentioned above and see if that works for me. Hope it works for you too!
  • A can of sardines (preferably in water not oil) would blast you through the afternoon.
  • Has anyone heard of ubiquinol for energy? I think it's CoQ10, and can be used to help improve energy and clarity. It popped up in my Amazon this morning, adn I'm curious.
  • Thanks for the suggestion but sardines, not exactly my cup of tea.LOL.
    I appreciate the suggestion thou.
Going to look into some vitamins, right now I take nothing.
I think my old body just needs a push!
  • I was feeling less than energetic all of last summer. My doctor did labs and my ferritin, I think, was low. She prescribed some iron tabs. Yuck, but I think they must work because the fog seemed to lift and then I forgot to get them refilled and was without them for a few weeks and I started feeling the low energy and brain fog start again. Needless to say, I refilled my script.
