  • How are you doing so far over the holidays?

I didn't take my scale with me to my parents for the holidays (mistake). I got back today and I wouldn't be surprised if I gained 6 lbs or more but I haven't weighed yet. I plan not to weigh until Jan 1.

How did you do? Are you also waiting to weigh in?
  • I weigh daily. Even during the holidays. I have been extremely volatile. I hit my lowest adult weight on Christmas day (162.6lbs), gained 2.8lbs the next day and dropped 1.4lbs today. So I am sitting pretty at 164lbs at the moment which is about what I weighed on Christmas Eve.

    So not too bad.
  • I don't weigh myself often because the numbers fluctuate so much that it messes with my head...I go by how I look and feel...and I look and feel about the same now as I did last week so i'm good with that....I haven't slacked on my weight workouts and have indulged moderately over the last few days, nothing major....I need to get a tape measure to track inches or something but I never have
  • I'm away from home this week, but my parents' scale was putting me at a loss of somewhere between .5 and 1 lb today. And I took my belt in another notch on Christmas Eve, thanks Santa!
  • I gained four pounds over the holiday luncheons, office parties and Christmas the last two weeks. Holding steady at the moment.
  • I was doing really well. . . and then the holidays hit. I went 4 days without weighing, and found my self 4 lbs heavier! But that has started to even out a bit.
  • I weigh myself around once a week. I've managed to maintain my weight throughout the holiday season so far :-). I did indulge on Christmas day, but this was planned to be honest, and have had a few "off days", but have exceeded my own expectations overall!
  • I'm on a scale break, doing fine with just proper habits and food logging. My bra band got tight from a Christmas eating and now feels better again. I was off plan (intentionally for one day, lazy for two leading up to it) and am now right back on, so I consider this a total success and things are going swimmingly.
  • I'm down about 1.5lbs since the holidays started. I chalk this up partially to finally de-stressing after exams and to erratic eating. I usually eat a very light lunch in anticipation of Christmas dinner and we're so busy I just don't think about eating so much. I always drop a little this time of year, even with extra alcohol consumption.
  • I am trying to balance the food with more running but to no avail so far I gained 4lbs in 2 days. Nevermind, at least I exercised.
  • I somehow lost 6 lbs over Christmas week.... Explain that one! lol
  • I weigh weekly, sometimes twice weekly. I'm overall down a teeny tiny amount for December as a whole, but I'm up 1.6 pounds over my lowest weight during the month. Bah humbug!
  • Is it okay to restrict calories the day after eating excessive calories?
Yesterday I ate 2,500 calories and I feel very regretful (usually I stick to about 1,550-1,650). I can't even exercise it off due to a leg injury.

Do you think it is safe to cut my calories down to about 900 calories, just for this one day to "even out" the calories consumed over the past 2 days? (That way the average between the 2 days would be as if I ate maintenance calories)

This won't become a pattern, but do you think it okay in terms of not damaging my metabolism if I just do it one day? Or do you think it's a bad idea?

    Thanks!
  • I let go Christmas Eve and Christmas day and am up 5lbs. I know this is mainly water weight and I got right back on track so I know my weight will be down by next week
  • My current low was on christmas eve morning. I indulged with christmas eve dinner and on christmas day. I was up 6lbs on the 26th but it is flushing off. it'll be a few days before I will know the actual damage but I doubt it is more than 2 lbs
