  • So last Saturday I hosted a huge party and prepared a feast. I planned to stay OP and has a salad with roasted chicken breast before the guests arrived, just before 6 pm. I stuck to my water with lemon, but since the party was not ending (guests left at 3:30 am), I found my cooked saurkraut and sausage just too tempting. Funny how I did not find the sweets and pastries tempting. So I had some saurkraut and a cooked sausage. I know that it is not OP, but I had no carbs, got back to being on plan the next day. I also don't think that it messed with me being in ketosis as I did not have any cravings and was not hungry the day after. I had a big loss last week, so I am not expecting much this week.

I had that darn saurkraut and sausage burning a hole in my conscience, just had to get it off my chest
  • I thought sauerkraut was a select vegetable on the IP Phase 1 sheet? The sausage on the other hand probably had a few grams of carbs but I wouldn't sweat it too much. It's not like you ate a pie or something :P
  • Don't sweat it too much. On Saturday I made lasagna (I has not intention to taste it) but I ended up eating like 7 bites of it and then small bits of cake and ice cream to boot. Needless today I was feeling sick and bloated sunday. I am still retaining water!
  • Thanks Ladies, I am not feeling too bad. I know that as long as abstain from high carb/sugars, I should be fine, as long as I dont make it a habit. Saurkraut is allowed, but I cooked it long with some smoked pork and sausages, and I don't think that is what they meant when they said saurkraut on the IP sheet I prepared it that way as I did not plan on eating it and I had 15 other people over so I was cooking for them ( I also prepared cannelloni and wiener shnitzel, cupcakes, banana bread, prosciutto and cheese tray). Considering all the temptations I think I did okay.

You did great.......me I are birthday cake with blue frosting and I was so sick! We need to dust our pants off and keep on moving
  • It is Mardi Gras day today and I am dying for a piece of King Cake....it will be a full year before King Cake season is back. I am strongly debating giving in and having a small slice. On the other hand, I am not sure I am willing to forgo a good week for it.
  • I have no idea what king cake is, but it will still be there next year when your are THIN!

I was going to say the exact same thing!

I'm reading The Beck Diet Solution.
Here is what they would say:
reframe your thoughts and re-state your self-talk. You are not "dying" for a piece of cake. Nobody ever died from not eating cake. You want a piece. You are probably craving one and you may be telling yourself that you are being left out for not having one.

But you have chosen this diet for a reason (or many reasons). Make a list of all the reasons you want to lose weight. List all the reason you chose IP.
This is one day. It will come back next year when you are thin.
If we "give in" when we're supposed to be sticking to a plan, how are we going to learn control for maintenance?
  • I like the way y'all think. I have not given in for the past two weeks and am planning on just holding off til next year!!! I know I won't die from not having it lol. Just a figure of speech. It has been part of the mardi gras tradition for as long as I have been alive. Like so many things in New Orleans, it revolves around food. Other than losing the weight I have to train myself to "limiting" the city celebrations!
  • In many cultures, celebration revolves around food, and that's not a bad thing. My dad is Italian, and food means love. Hahaha.
It's our relationship with food that makes us fat. If we eat for comfort, or out of sadness, then things need to be addressed. But eating at a social gathering, or having a drink with friends is not a bad thing.
Finding what made us turn to food in the first place is the only way we can lose the weight, and keep it off.

It's fine to go on the program and lose a bunch of weight, but if the food "issues" have never been addressed, then we're more likely to go back to our old eating habits.

I've gone off plan many times since I started, and have not gained back any of the weight I've lost. I had to change my attitude towards food. It wasn't the drink on the patio, or my grandmother's home made pasta that got me overweight, it was the comfort eating I did before bed and when no one was looking.

I want to be able to go out and drink with friends and eat delicious, not-so-good-for-me-food once in a while, and there's nothing wrong with that.
It's the mindless eating that I now have control over.

Success comes from within. And no matter what plan you're on or diet you're doing, it has to be for the right reasons.
We have to be happy with ourselves before any major change can take place.

Just my two cents. Hope everyone is finding inner happiness today.

    AMEN!

We cannot live life afraid to eat something, it does not work that way!

Tonight I was so hungry I cut a slice of home made banana bread popped it in the toaster, spritzed with I cant believe it's not butter and ENJOYED it!
I do not feel bad, I just enjoyed it.
  • So how bad is it when you cheat? My coach said that maybe we could organize a cheat day if I must and I haven't slipped up and I don't really want a food cheat day I want to go out and have some drinks with friends and family next weekend and remember my dad. He passed away a year ago on the 12th and part of me wants to remember him the way our family does it. I don't need to get wasted but I would like to have some drinks. I just don't know what to do, how bad can it beat, will it kick me out of ketosis and I will have the transition day again?
  • I had a whole pizza y'day and today. I'm back to 172 lbs but I ain't gonna touch my ticker. Oh no! lol
  • Good Morning to all !!! I am viewing the many successes of others , congratulations to all !!! I am wondering what is going wrong with my success. WI 7 will be on 3/12/14. Lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks but WI.4 - WI.7 has been a yo-yo. Today I get on the scale to find that I have a 20 lb loss after 6 weeks and 900 + dollars. Better than no loss, but just looking at what some of you Ipeeps, I feel like a failure. I am drowning in water I drink what's required by the hardest. I eat the same meals daily, trying to keep it simple. my favorite Proteins (fish or shrimp) Veggies (zucchini, spinach or broccoli) and of course my afternoon snack strawberry wafers. This week i had wafers every other day instead. That makes life miserable. I love those things. lol... My coach only says, Your doing great ! your losing. You won't be shrinking violet.... I see many of you doing so much better. I have lost 10 inches in 4 weeks . and no inches since.... OMG. Not looking for a miracle, just saying ...... 20lbs x $900 = Wow !!! Any Idea's ???
