  • I binged big time yesterday. I need to figure out a balance with eating at work. I don't have much time to eat while at work and some days I don't get a break. That means I am incredibly hungry after work. I have been packing lunches and generally the only time I get to eat it is on the train ride home. And this is right before bed since I mostly work evenings. Yesterday was my first day off and I was feeling so deprived and I ate an entire box of cookies, 2 donuts, and then my parents took me to a chinese buffet to "celebrate" my new job. Normally I decline eating out at such an unhealthy place but I said screw it and went all out. I feel so sick today!!! I'm not trying to beat myself about it and moving on but I need to figure out how to learn from this.

    I got a little loss this morning. I'll take it!

    Jacqui, no I can't sleep without the meds. When I awaken in the middle of the night I stay up for several hours afterward. I really need to see if the pills are messing with my weightloss though, so I'm ditching them for now. Today was promising considering I was coming off a weekend. I'm going to give this a few days and if I don't start losing, I'm going back to low carb instead of calorie counting.

    Congratulations to the "losers"!!

    Welcome Butterfly!!
  • Bg, this thread is hopping! I remember back in the day that we used to have to start a new thread every month (2 for the same month) because we would hit our limit of 500 posts. It got to be that we'd start to speculate on how many posts we'd be able to get in before 3FC would realize we were past 500 and close the first thread, lol! If we keep this up, we just might get old school all up in here, haha!

    Leah, it's great that you only gained 1 lb from your unplanned cheat day, especially considering all the sodium in a Chinese buffet! You may have just set yourself up for a whoosh in the next few days! I do hope you get the eating situation at work figured out. if nothing else, carry a baggie of almonds in your purse or pocket, and if you find you can't take a break, at least eat those on the run to keep you going.

    Lene, do you know if all sleep aids have this possible side effect? If not, maybe you could ask your doctor to prescribe you a different type. I do hope you get it worked out soon. As for switching diets, I am a big fan of low carb/smart carb now that I've become more knowledgeable about its effect on blood sugar and insulin production, so I don't think you could go wrong if you did decide to switch.

  • I'm new to this forum but I would love to join you guys this month! I weighed in this morning at 159lbs. I'm going to start with small steps so I don't get discouraged. I would like to weigh 155 by September 1st! good luck everyone!
  • Welcome Blynn!!!

    Leah, I agree, can you carry almonds or something small you can quickly snack on? I know you can figure it out and get on track even with this challenge!

    Bg Let your hair down, just don't go too wild! Make sure to either keep checking in on vacation, or come back right away after!
  • I'll give the almonds a shot! I've been trying to have a greek yogurt just before work and then cheese and apples when I can. It's easy to snack during work when it's dead but when it's busy I'm usually the only personalizer on shift and so I have to work. I like being so busy I don't think about food, it's a relief from my constant thoughts about it, HOWEVER, it's not good to get to a hunger point that I stuff myself later.
  • Quick question as I'm new here... Do you just edit your old post with aily weight totals or post a new one every few days??
  • WELCOME MUSES & BUTTERFLY & BLYNN

    @Leah
    I had that problem too for a while that i would come home and binge becauae i was so hungrey. I found that rrying to fight to binge was like trying to stop gravity. My solution was to binge on celery. Its a no guilt binge. And once your stomach is no longer eating itaelf THEN you can make a level headed decision on what to eat.

    @Blynn
    Good to start small! And welcome!

    @ PixiCat
    I totally agree about the eating out thing. You cant hav the scale control every day of your life. Youll never leave the house and start having anxiety about going out. I check the resturaunt website to see what they offer on the menu befor i go out so i dont get overwhelmed by choices. But anytime i do go out i make sure to get a scoop of icecream

    @Tray
    WTG!!! We are racing to the 160's together!!!

    @fair
    Congrats on the great weeks loss!! I dont know how you can weigh in only weekly. I would pull my hair out

    @ bg
    Awesome new low you are beating your goal to a pulp!!!

    @ turtle
    Funny you should mention panties. I had a pair of sports panties and they always gave me that weird muffin thing. Im gunna try them on at the end of this month and see if they are going to be the OFFICIAL big girl panties

    @ sum
    WTG!!! Glad to see your back OP!!

    Hi muses! You can do either, but most of us post a new one each time we weigh and we keep adding to it every day so you can see the monthly trend. If you simply edit your old post, nobody other than you will notice and you likely won't get any comments or active support. Hope that makes sense.

    I simply maintained this morning, which is fine by me!

    Turtle: WAY TO GO Greyhound…you made your mini-goal by Monday. I hope it sticks!

    Lene: I hope you solve the mystery soon! I calorie count but also with low carb/smart carb, as Jacqui described it.

    Joy: I finally found a restaurant where I can eat with no worries. They make the world's best salad and it's reasonably low cal. I would order this dish even if I weren't on a diet...it is an absolute taste sensation. I now go there at least once a week (often more). I wish you and others luck in finding one or two eating-out "solutions"...they're great to have!

    bg124: Congratulations on the new low! This time next month you'll be in the 230's!

    Jacqui: Glad you're still in the 1's!

    Bleu: Glad to see not only did it stick, but you moved down further!

    Pixi: You'll soon be back in the 240's.

    Leah: Don't know if this will help, but I always keep a protein bar in my purse, just in case I find myself in a situation where I don't have time to eat. It will at least see me through until my next mealtime.

    Tray: Nice losses…you'll be in the 160's before you know it.

    Cincorn: Nice loss! I hope you and your grandson had fun yesterday.

    Sum: That's the spirit…nice to see you were rewarded by getting back in the 150's.

    fairandfree: Congratulations on making goal!

    butterflygirl & Blynn: Glad to have you join us and good luck in meeting your goals
  • Quote: Tuscany - you are ripping through those numbers!! congrats on the new lows and the unfilled closet. Looks like you might have to go shopping
    You don't know me and clothes...or, at least the "former me" and clothes. I weighed somewhere between 125 and 150 for many years and, when I did, I had a LOT of clothes. These are all business clothes and very classic styles...the type that rarely goes out of style.

    Over the years, as I gained weight, I sort of lost interest in clothes. So, before I began my weight journey I had perhaps a half dozen outfits that I would wear to work.

    My former "skinny" clothes now all fit me...a couple are a tad tight on the arms (my downfall), but nothing anyone but me would notice. The rest fit perfectly. So, I now have a closet with at least 50 outfits and they're all fabulous. It's like winning the lottery...Woohoo!
  • Yay! I broke my upward trend with a vengeance. New low for the month.

    SW: 79.6kgs
    CW: 78.4 (-0.45)
    GW: 78

    bg124: I usually get a downtic after the Warm Tenderloin Tip salad at a local restaurant -- spinach, red peppers, and cubes of tenderloin. Some of the spinach is flash-fried, so it's crispy. There's cheese, too, but I leave nearly all of that and I ignore the bread.
    Generally, I do best at restaurants if I pretend I'm on South Beach, which usually translates to a salad with some meat or fish, dressing on the side. I dip the fork in the dressing and then spear the food -- that gets me a lot of flavor but a spare application of dressing. No starch. It's hard to get good carbs in a restaurant so I just pretend for that meal that I eat no carbs.
    That all sounds like a huge sacrifice, but I've had some truly wonderful meals. I don't eat much meat at home and no red meat (my husband is allergic to it) so it's actually a nice treat. And it's such a pleasure to eat vegetables that I didn't have to prep!

    muses: You can edit your old post (which is easier) or make a new one each time (I keep my template post in a Notepad file on my computer to help). If you do edit the old post, make sure to say something new at the end of the month that you met your goal because I don't go back and check the old posts. As Tuscany said, you'll get more interaction if you post new each time.

    Tuscany: love your clothes story.
