Broken elliptical...ok to use?

  • So I decided to take a break from the treadmill, was getting bored of running and wanted to switch to my elliptical instead, but I just found out that it's broken, meaning the power cord is messed up and it costs too much to fix

To be honest, I like the power on to see my cals (I know it's not accurate but it keeps me pumped to see those numbers go up!) but the worst part is that I can't play around with the resistance anymore!

Do you think an hour on the elliptical would still be decent exercise? I'm assuming it's on the lowest level of resistance now, but it just feels weird. Ugh I'm gonna see what else I can do but in the mean I wanted to use it as is.

    What do you guys think?!
  • I'd personally keep using it. Mainly because I'm broke and can't afford little fixes like that. My advice would be to do it, track how long you did it and plug that in with the lowest resistance just in case. And heck, if it IS a higher resistance, it's kind of like an ignorance is bliss sort of thing. If you have a HRM, that could help. I like to plug into my app (LoseIt!) the lowest possible amount of calories burned per exercise so I don't overestimate and eat too much. IMO it keeps me a bit more on track.
  • Yeah I'm gonna just use it this way! I don't have a HRM unfortunately but I've been wanting to get one. For now I might just enter it in MFP though. Which HRM do you have?
  • I have a watch my new balance but its tricky to figure out and I don't think it's very accurate. I'm saving for a fit bit right now. Heard a lot of good things about it. I'd get anything with a chest strap though. They're the most accurate.
