  • Hi!
So I have been on the Ideal Protein diet for 3.5 weeks now and have lost 18.1lbs! I thought that I would be able to notice my body changing with my weightloss, but I dont see much change. Some people have told me I have a slightly slimmer face, but I dont see it.

How long did it take you to feel different? To notice changes in your body?
  • It won't be long for you now. I think at about 20 pounds.

By 40 pounds other people start noticing.

And by 60 pounds everyone is talking about it.
  • oh ok! Thanks!
  • At first people thought I did my hair or eye makeup different. Not sure if they were being polite not saying anything about weightloss or they could just tell something was different!

Congrats on your weightloss so far, you are doing awesome! Pretty soon the comments will be constant and you won't be able to get away from them.
  • Congrats on the loss so far!

I'm still waiting to see noticeable changes. Some of my work pants are too big, but I still can't really tell when I look in the mirror. Hopefully in another ten lbs or so.
  • I started at a higher weight than you but it took about 30 pounds before I could feel the difference. It took about 50 pounds before others started making comments. I still have trouble seeing the difference in the mirror but I can see in pictures. Sometimes it is very difficult for us to really see ourselves. Try taking pictures to document your changes. I think pictures will help you see the changes better than the mirror.

    Congrats, you are doing great!
  • 25lbs before I noticed any change at all :-(
  • Way to go on the loss so far!

I started to notice it immediately in my hips and stomach, but I wonder if a lot of that was bloating. I haven't seen much of a difference in my arms so far and have noticed my 2nd chin decreasing the tiniest bit.

You'll see changes soon! Keep up the good work!
  • It depends. If you mean when will other people notice, for me it was around 20 pounds. For myself, I still have days I don't see it and I've lost 42 pounds! I know I'm struggling with distorted body image.

I noticed in my clothes first, before I could "see" it in the mirror.

Congrats on your loss so far!
  • I didn't really notice that much of a difference till after 40lbs and then it was like, "woah, what happened?".

Keep up the great work and you'll see the changes
  • I'm at 17 pounds this time and I haven't seen much of a change. My clothes still fit the same, I'm still wearing the same jean size etc. I know it's because I'm gaining muscle. I can somewhat see it on my face though. I get more comments from people who don't see me all the time. There was a thread a couple days ago saying people have lost upwards to 40 pounds and they are still wearing the same sizes. It's all in where you lose weight!
  • You're doing great!! Def keep at it!

It took 25lbs for others to see a difference and myself, although even at 25lbs I don't notice much (haven't gone down a size and nothing fits super loose) but when I wear things that were tighter before I can feel it and then see it.

I know it's frustrating though bc really 18lbs is a lot of weight but before you know it's going to show! I've been taking measurements and pictures every 15lbs so I can see a difference! (I wanted to do 20lb but that was taking forever!)

I remember reading this quote somewhere Im going to see if I can find it and link it on here!

    Found it! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Gv8ryGTUYx...-12-weeks2.jpg

I know this is going by time (versus weight) but since you're 3.5 weeks in I'm sure you'll notice come 12 weeks!
  • Oh wow! Thank you all for your support and answers. It seems like there is such a variety of answers, but somewhere between 25-40lbs maybe?
hhm6, I really like the quote, thanks!
Just for fun I attached photos from the start and one from today.

  • Wow! You look great!
  • I mostly noticed changes when my clothes started fitting looser...so maybe 30 pounds? I'd lost about 45 pounds before anyone else started noticing and then it was, "have you lost a little weight?". Once I hit 60 pounds everyone seemed to notice, including me.
