Magical Monday Beach Chat 4/1

  • Why not a magical Monday? Spring is a season of new beginnings so why not celebrate. Easter was uneventful. A little upset at myself as I forgot my food at home and was subjected to NYC prices. Ouch! Today I am well prepared. Although I long for a few uninterrupted days puttering around the yard *sigh*

NY baseball starts today which means we will be busy. Already looking forward to my train ride home. Have a magical day
  • It certainly looks like a "magical" Monday, with a very thick fog making the outside look sureal. But it's more like "mammogram Monday" for me today before I start work.

We had a really nice Easter with most of the family here, and as usual, too much food. I had every intention of staying OP, but did cave to 1/2 slice of homemade Easter bread, and finished off the day with cannoli. Oh, well, today's a new day and I have a yummy salad already packed for my lunch.

Have a great day, and beware of any April Fool's pranks!
  • It is definately magical, as my little boy turns 10 years old today! He had to wake me this morning with, "I couldn't wait anymore!!!". It is so sweet .

Jekel - I bet you see some interesting things during baseball season!

Cottage - I need to do that too - but I keep justifying it in my head that I don't have much to radiograph...LOL! Hope it is quick and comfortable as possible!

For me, IT'S MY LITTLE BOYS BIRTHDAY!!! (gee, is he excited or what!??!) I have some work, then asked the boss if I could leave early and take vacation time (I'm not booked anyway, most cancelled). She wasn't thrilled, but oh well! I'll probably take him to an indoor playground that I admit is pretty fun about an hour away, then he wants Chinese Buffet for dinner. Uh-oh. I didn't eat well yesterday (I had no idea I invited over such a chef...stuffed calamari, beef coquettes, and more...), and although I'm good at the chinese buffet normally, it is so salty and greasy. Phase I tomorrow!
    Onward Chicks!
  • Good Magical Monday! Love the title, Jennifer. I plan to ignore the April Fool thing today - had enough of it when I taught school.

Linda, I hear you on the mammo thing. I'm due again this July. Treat yourself to something afterward to celebrate being a woman.

Changed my avatar yesterday because I now believe spring is going to come. The yard is almost clear of snow and it seems the melt is slow enough that there will be only a minor lake in the yard. The dogs are feeling spring-ish - they came in from potty and roared around the house chasing each other before they even checked their dishes! I also saw a pair of amourous squirrels out there. I hollered "Get a room!" but they ignored me.

Although today is a holiday around here, we are still having a quilting meeting this morning. I have no work to bring and am feeling a tad guilty. Maybe there will be a couple of quilts for me to bring home and bind. I really do want to make one more quilt top before summer because I know I won't get anything done then. (I'm in a bit of a panic over summer as I seem to have lots of commitments up to July 31!)

My dear Aunt Rose died over the weekend. She was nearly 81 and a grand lady who kept her smarts until the last. She was also my godmother. Now I am the matriarch of the clan. Her funeral will be later this week in Ottawa as her son is in Calgary and will take a while to get here. I am hoping he will take over the eulogy responsibility but I am ready in case he chickens out.

Time to tidy the kitchen, sort some of Mount Laundry and tiddle up for the quilting biddies morning.

Have a Magical Monday! Maybe it'll rain violets.
  • Happy Birthday to your little man, Tammy. This is the year I hope to meet you in real life and certainly want to see your kids - plus the new pup of course.
  • Awww, thanks Ruth. I'm so sorry to hear of your Aunt, she sounds like a special lady, and that you have some big shoes to fill.
  • Good Morning

Ruth, sorry to hear of your Aunt's passing. It sounds like she was a wonderful woman.

    Tammy(Twynn), Happy Birthday to DS!

I've been packing/organizing for our trip later today. First-our final trip to the pool special for me since I get to attend wateryoga. It's the only thing I truly miss now that I work on Mondays. I think this will only be the 3rd time I've attended since I started the job in Oct. 2011.

Have a great day everyone...gotta run...Jennifer, thanks for getting us started this morning.
  • good morning South Beachers

Linda - I am sorry to hear about your loss, hugs to you. So glad that you were able to have your visit with Ruth.

Jennifer - have fun putting around your yard. It will be a while before we can do this here.

Twynn - enjoy your son's birthday. Time really flies fast.

Ruth - sorry to hear about your aunt. You have some shoes to fill there.

Debbie - enjoy your wateryoga. Still on the move all the time, are you.

I have been reading but just wasn't up to writing. Got back from my DD at the end of February and promptly got sick with bronchitis and sinus infection. It took me over 5 weeks to get over this and as a result of some nose xrays I have to go see a specialist next week. Anyways, my new grandson is going to be 4 months and is totally adorable, smiling baby. My DD has a great adjustment living in a town of 2500, and so did I. The good news is that my ticker is only .8 lbs over the stated weight. Hope to be here more often in the future.
    take care

  • I am SOOOO glad to be out of the car; SOOOO glad to be home. We drove straight through yesterday and, seems to me, made it in record time despite some rain. My arm was killing me most of the ride. This is whatever pulled muscle thing I first experience last summer, saw a chiropractor for with no relief, but it finally went away after six months only to return after my last trip. Whine - sorry.

Today there is a groupon for acupuncture and I am really considering that. Any fans out there who have had success?

Eating was horrible. I feel it. PH1.

    Sorry about your loss, Ruth.

Will try to drag my a** to yoga since I need it and my typical Monday workout was changed to tomorrow, pending my unknown return time.

    Happy April. Crazy, that.
  • Happy April

Just popping in between errands to say hello. Have a great day all!
  • Belated hello everyone! Checking in late today. I went to the salon this afternoon and got about 6 inches of my hair cut off- it's right above my shoulders now. I LOVE it. I always love short hair, I don't know why I keep letting it grow out. Laziness, I guess

I indulged in Easter Bread like I said I would yesterday, and am up two pounds today to show for it! Stinking water weight. Ah, well, back to behaving. Hoping to hit the 30 pound mark this week.

Ruth- I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your aunt. She sounds like a wonderful lady!

Karen- My mom had a couple of acupuncture sessions for back pain, and she's doing really well now. She still occasionally has flare-ups, particularly if she's exercised a lot, but the acupuncture seems to have really helped. I hope you get feeling better!

    jenne1017- Hi!
  • So, today is my Bday. Yay! And I have decided to jump back on the SBD wagon. (It's been a long time.) Obviously, not doing it isn't working because I still weigh the same. So, here I am. The new SBD Gluten Free book intrigues me. I don't have Celiac disease, but I have noticed that I just feel better when I steer clear of bread. So, I am gonna give it a shot. I'll just go back to regular SBD if I don't think it is making much of a difference. But anyways, I'm back! Happy April, everyone!
  • Welcome back, Jennie.

April played a joke on us today - it's currently -7 with the windchill and we have had both hail and snow. Tomorrow I go to get my snow tires taken OFF!

    Duh!
  • Hail here too but so far now s**w. hope it stays that way. The forecast says just two days of cold before we get back to spring. I sure hope it's right for once!
  • Happy Birthday, Jennie, and welcome back!
