Newbie from PA

  • Hello Everyone!!
I am new to the site, I discovered a few weeks ago, but decided today to finally join. I have been doing weight watchers since 2/14/2013 and have lost a total of 12 lbs so far. I weigh in tonight, so I'm hoping for about 1.5 lb addition! I am 25, currently a full time nursing student, I do not work, I have a boyfriend (who is skinny naturally, so he isn't much help with my loss), and he has two children. My mother is doing weight watchers with me, but I feel like I could use extra support. I spend a lot of my time doing school work and use that as my excuse not to exercise. I try to go at least once a week to the gym because that's better than nothing.

Thanks for reading and good luck to everyone!

  • Welcome and good luck on your journey!!
  • Welcome!

Try going for short walks, or even walking whenever you can instead of driving. Take your naturally skinny bf and his kids with you
  • Welcome! I advise you to find some sort of exercise you enjoy. Even if it is starting with one of those exercise tapes that is 10 minutes or so, maybe with resistance bands or something, and trying to do it 4-5 times per week. Maybe then you can work up to 20 then 30 and on and on until you find an exercise you really enjoy. I never liked exercising around others so that is what I did until I got below about a 50 lb loss then I got my nerve to go to my first aerobics class back in 1985. I was the only young person in there as the class was designed for senior citizens. Those grannies sure could move! LOL
  • Thanks for everyone's advice! I really appreciate it. I am actually about to head out the door and buy some weights to use at home.

I weighed in last night and lost 1.6 lbs, so now I'm at -13.6! I'm very excited. I know its only the start of the journey, but I'm loving the results after only 5 weeks.

Hey there! I'm new to the site too, just joined last week. I'm not on WW, I use "Lose It!", which is an app, think it's for android and apple. I've lost 20.6 pounds using it, it's really cool if u want to check it out! Congrats on your weight loos, and don't give up! By the way, how does WW work? Also, can anyone tell me what ONEderland means?
  • I really like WW so far. Its easy to use, but you really need to stick with how many points you get and measure your portions.

Basically you can go to meetings or go online to use it (I prefer the meetings so that I actually stick with it and am held accountable). You weigh in once a week and they tell you how many points you get per day. Each food/serving is a points value, such as one cup of rice is 5 points (one cup is much more than you would think), one piece of bread is 2 points. The points are based on the amount of fat, protein, fiber, and total carbs that are in each food. Most fruits and vegetables are 0 points so you can eat as much as you want. I get 32 points a day (mainly because I am under 26 years old) and then for one week you get 49 points you can use for whatever you want (I don't use the 49 at all and I think it has helped my weight loss). You get points for exercising also.
  • Welcome!
