Xenical...dang!

  • The Dr. at the clinic suggested I start xenical. So, willing to try anything to break the pleateau, I got the script. Well, with the script comes a booklet that gives you a web site. I logged on and found out they offer some MAJOR support. When you sign up, they assign you your own dietition/nutritionist who sends you a ton of information and works with you daily for 12 weeks, with an option for another 12 weeks. This is a free service and the information she has sent me is amazing. The outline said we will be learning everything from portion control to behavior modification. I thought this may have been all computer generated...like there really wasn't a person named Colleen that I would be contacting for advise, so I emailed her directly and got an answer back within an hour. I don't know if the perscription is working, but the support is totally worth it! Y'all might want to check it out!
  • Um....I've done Xenical. I quit because of major side effects after a few days on the plan. To avoid these you absolutely MUST keep your fat grams below 30!
    Good luck!
  • yeah, I guess it can be pretty fierce if you go over your fat grams, but the program I am on is basically fat free, so I have not had any side effects. The Dr. said it can be like avoidance therapy if you go over the gram count...that did it for me. But I am a carbo freak, not fat...
  • I tried it too Ruth, and....Oh my I see the hitting the fan!!!!! Oh my, yes be VERY careful or you will know exactly what an oil slick feel like. We'll have to change your name to Slickya.
  • Help! I'm confused how it works.

I thought it worked by reducing the absorption of fat. If you are a carb addict and not a fat addict, and you're on a fatfree diet, how is it suppose to work for you?
  • not sure, unless it leaches the fat from my system...suppose to increase weight loss, control goup lost 5 pounds vs the group that used the RX who lost 13 pounds. Guess I need to study this more.
  • Hey guys! Xenical indeed does leach fat, but from the food you eat. It stops the absorbtion so you PASS it out of your system. Remember this, you never LOSE fat cells, they just shrink due to the reduction of stored elements.
