Didn't lose a lot on Phase 1..Beans or normal?

  • Hey all!

So to start I am going to acknowledge the following

    1) I didn't eat a ton of carbs to begin with. My family was on SB when I was a teenager so the principles have been drilled into my head. SB phase 1 wasn't a MASSIVE shift in my eating habits but it did change a bit (no high fiber bread, fruit, beer, candy, etc).

    2) I started about 153-155 (inconsistent scale readings). I believe 155 was a blip in the scale as I was really bloated and clogged. I was probably 153 MAX. Maybe?

Within about 2 weeks I am at 147-148 ish. so I may have lost about 5 pounds or so. I have been working out but it is impossible I have gained muscle mass in so short a time. I feel more fit after about 3+ weeks but thats not a long time.

I wonder- is this normal or am I overdoing the beans?

Basically I don't like to eat a ton of meat on this diet- eating meat 3x a day isn't something I am comfortable with. I eat eggs, tofu, tempeh, lots of veg, but I do eat a good amount of beans.

I am going to stay on Phase 1 another week (again, I am good at cooking this way and I don't find variety a big problem). I wonder if I should be strict or be comfortable knowing that for my weight this is a normal phase 1 loss.

    Thoughts?
  • I am much heavier then you (almost 50lbs) and lost around 5lbs in 2 weeks - so considering your starting weight I think it's a great result.
  • It's an awesome result - you don't have much to lose, and it's mostly water weight. The high weight losses tend to be people that have a lot of weight to lose (and ate a lot of carbs to begin with as well).

    Congrats!
  • Ditto what Twynn said
