I am on diet and loosing hair, please someone help me.

  • Hello friends, I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I hope you guys help me with my problem. I actually started a diet recently and lost about 10 KG in 2 months. I just used to have oats in the morning, fruits in the evening and 2 chapati ( made up of whole grain wheat) in the night. I also used to do 30 minutes of exercise. I lost weight very rapidly ( that is what I feel). Now the problem is, my hair is thinning and I see lot of gaps in my hair. I am really scared of it as it looks odd on me. People who talk with me will be looking at my head due to this gaps. Please someone here help me. Anyone has faced same problem, if yes, what is the way to get hair back? was anyone successful here in getting their hair back. Help me friends.
  • Your hair NEEDS protein to grow, and it doesn't look like you are getting any. That is extremely dangerous. Your diet, while it may help you lose weight, is much too low of a caloric intake and not balanced at all. This is a very unhealthy way to lose weight. You need to incorporate lean meats, fish or other forms of protein such as beans into your diet right away, along with vegetables and other sources of fiber. Your diet seems to be high in carbs and low in just about everything else. Please be safe!
  • Also agree with Epicskyline. I didn't go as extreme as u but have been losing hair since a Brazilian blowout, I take many vitamins now including Folic acid and chia for fiber. I also take spirulina and chlorella for protien I have read vegetarians can rely on those 2 for protien In high amounts
  • Hello epicskyline n chubbiegurl, I really appreciate your reply. I will try to include protein in my diet and from today. but please tell me is there any chance to get hair back?
  • I don't think two months is enough time to do permanent damage! I would say u lived u learned. Weight low is sometimes trial and error.
  • I'm sure your hair will grow back. Eat more and eat more protein.
  • I'm not a huge fan of using protein supplements on a daily basis, but get one you like and use it while you're cutting your calories so low a couple times a week. Or daily, if you want. It can't hurt you. I personally just think it's better to get nutrients from real food as much as we can. But we all need a little push sometimes. Look for one high in protein and low in calories. Use it in place of a snack.

  • Ok, this will sound off the wall, but bear with me.

    I work for a veterinarian, with animals that have shedding/hair issues, we advise more Omega's. And give it time.

    That said, eat Tuna! Low cal, high protein and Omega's. It does work. One can of tuna in water daily, and give it at least 90 days!

    It does work!

    The other thing we advise is a bit, maybe a teaspoon of bacon fat once a week. Given, dogs are much smaller than us, so the 1 teaspoon, but, we still need a bit of bad fat for our bodies to function well.

    So, eat some tuna each day, or salmon is good too, and one slice of bacon weekly.
