  • Well I have been on IP for 4 weeks and have lost a total of 12.2 pounds. A bit disappointing for me was hoping for more. Anyway, when measuring your 8oz of meat do you measure before you cook or after?

I am thinking I am eating over the allowed protein at dinner. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
  • After it is cooked. You measure meat after cooked and vegetables before. Makes it a little confusing. Don't be disappointed in that weight loss! You are doing GREAT! Your average is over 3 lbs/week.
  • I've always heard you measure everything raw.
  • You should measure it before cooked. Hope that helps.
  • Meat and veggies should both be measured raw, not cooked.

And you have had GREAT losses - 12lbs in 4 weeks is fantastic! That's 3lbs per week, more than many people average. Don't buy into the OLD marketing materials (the 3-7lb per week is being removed from IP literature - it is a highly skewed average), keep with the program and know that it will work!
  • ok so again I have been doing it wrong. Sometimes I am unable to measure before it is cooked. I will start doing it the correct way from now on.

I know 12 pounds is very good, but sometimes I feel like it should be more seeing I have not cheated at all.

You have to take into account your body type, and how much you have to lose. I only lost 5 more pounds than you in my first 4 weeks and I have a LOT more to lose than you. It's all relative! No matter which way you slice it, the weight comes off faster on this diet than any other I've tried

If you can't measure before it is cooked, 8oz of chicken cooks down to about 6 oz, 8oz of steak cooks down to about 7. If you shoot for 6-7oz cooked meat you'll be in the right range.

I sometimes feel the same way! I think, "How is it that I'm not losing weight faster since I'm only eating 900-1000 calories a day?" Seeing how slowly and reluctantly the pounds drop off, even on a very restricted low-carb, low-sugar diet like this gives me a new appreciation for just how difficult weight loss really is!

Keep up the good work! You are doing great!
  • There seems to be differing opinions on that one, I did my entire journey on cooked meat and veggies raw. I was also told that from the coach that trains Canadian clinics.

    Interesting!

As far as losses go though, measuring cooked will only add an ounce or two of meat to your intake - not really enough that it should have a big impact on results. According to Wuv (who is a coach) they are now saying "UP to" 8oz of meat at dinner - so there's some wiggle room there while still remaining on plan.
  • Notice that Lisa was saying that too, queried my coach and we're the same as we were.

When I posted that, I got the information from a coaches forum. That is the only reason I posted it...Y'all know me if and when I find out info I always pass it on

And that's why I think Canada and the US are different...cause mine came from the Regional Rep.
  • ok we are talking about 1-2 oz difference! It's not going to affect your losses....unless you are eating sausage (I now it's not allowed!)
