Hi all!
I'm new to the group but not new to Atkins. Had great success about 10 years ago then about 6 years ago (plus a number of shorter-term successes over the years) and have never felt happier/healthier as when I was following. Acid reflux practically goes away. I lose enough weight to stop my sleep apnea. I lose enough weight to begin jogging again. I'm not bloated. My mind feels clearer. I could go on and on...
Atkins works for me - my body responds very well to it - and I'm looking forward to getting back my body that 2 babies and a bunch of laziness have hidden underneath that extra layer of huggable squishiness ;-)
My current motivation is for health and strength (though seeing those numbers drop is a huge, exciting part of the journey!). This year brought arthroscopic knee surgery for a torn meniscus and a miscarriage, and I know my weight and current level of fitness played at least a small factor in both.
I have two beautiful daughters who deserve an active and healthy mom who serves as a positive role model to them and I am also not ready to hang up my dreams of a third child - and a healthy, active body (and related increased confidence) can only help me in my quest.
I've never "gone public" on this board (or any board) with my weight struggles and am looking forward to being motivated and to motivating others on this journey like so many of your stories have done for me over the years.
I plan to re-read all of my Atkins materials and to follow the plan very closely. I know my body only responds well to naturally low carb foods. Atkins or other "low carb" products immediately screw up my progress and I try to avoid them at all costs.
I'm excited to spend more time on this board learning about any new and creative recipes and tips and tricks that are working for everyone. I have a bunch of stand-by lunches and snacks that are committed to memory but would love to shake it up with some new, exciting options that will continue to motivate me.
For the next 14 days, though, eggs and meats and greens, oh my (and water and vitamins and weight loss too)!
Thank you for letting me share my story and continued successes to all!
