Just moved to Monrovia, CA-- In need of weight loss support

  • So, here I am again.

I used to be on this board every day a year ago and I managed to lose 60 pounds in under a year and I maintained it very well.

But then I got distracted with stress from work and did not make time for myself to work out. I let my eating habits go crazy again and then completely stopped eating healthy all together.

I recently got engaged and moved across the country from Virginia to California. I've been out here for two months and I swear I have gained back 20 pounds since then. My clothes are much tighter and I can't fit into anything unless it is a skirt or a dress. I've become so depressed from the stress of moving that I just can't push myself to just go out for a small jog. I feel tired and gross all the time and I just want to get back to the old, healthy me.

I have to stop this gain in it's tracks and reverse it. I have to start today.

What I am looking for is weight loss support and to make friends/work out buddies. I am looking to get and give support to my fellow 3FCs!
If you live in the LA County area and want to meet up/work out together or just be each other's support, I am totally down for that.

Please respond if you are up to the challenge!
  • Welcome and good luck !
  • Thanks!

I will truly need it. This weight came back on so quickly.
  • Welcome to California! If you've never been here before, you will find that it is a fine place to live, and a great place to loose weight because of all the outdoor activities. Not all the crazy stories you hear about us are true. I live up the pike a ways in southern Inyo county.
  • Thanks for the welcome, Gailr42!

Yeah, I do like it here. Just the type of warm weather I like and a very beautiful environment. The only thing I don't like is the highways and the traffic lol.
But it is just like the traffic back in Virginia so it kind of feels like home. :P

The only thing I have been able to really do is go jogging at night when it cools down but there are not many sidewalks to jog on out here and that can get dangerous at night or early in the morning. :/

What other cheap exercises can you suggest to a newbie living in Cali? (cheap meaning not costing much at all- I'm currently unemployed and broke.)
  • Hiking trails in the Angeles National Forest.

    This place looks pretty interesting:

There is probably a county or city parks and recreation department that could give you some direction.

About a million years ago, I visited my very first shopping mall in West Covina or maybe Rancho Cucamonga - not sure which. Shopping isn't exactly good exercise, I just happened to think of it.
  • That looks super fun! Thank you for that information.
