Trip Tips Needed - Especially for New York City

  • Hi IPers! I'm going to New York City next week and will buy most of my food on Monday. I need some good ideas about how to do this on NYC days.

Usually when I travel I bring a choc or vanilla RTD with me. I order a salad and a side of veggies and drink my drink for lunch. But this is NYC and I'll be carrying everything with me (all day) and not in a car with a cooler. I hate to carry things around all day. Also, I'll bring a box of cran-granata bars (which won't melt in the heat) and put one in my purse for a late afternoon snack.

Does anyone else have travel trips for easy IP foods that can be carried around all day? Are there any NYC IPers out there? Restaurant suggestions? Places that sell IP packets?

I've heard talk of an IP travel kit? Any ideas on that?

I'm staying at my niece's apt, but probably won't be there for a lot of meals.

Also, after 5 days in NYC, I'll be on a road trip for a week in a rental car. That should be a little easier, although I won't have easy cooking facilities.

Need some help from you all!
  • The drink mixes & pudding packets are easy carryons & are easy to stash in your purse, and you don't need to bring a shaker - just buy a bottle of water, drink some of the water, add your packet, and shake - use them as your disposable shaker on the go. The puddings can be turned into drinks with more water (and they have less carbs). I've used the water bottles at work before when I forgot my shaker, they are great!
  • Thanks, Liz! That's a great idea - about the water bottles. I can even do that on the plane. Of course, you'd have to be super careful pouring the powder into that tiny little opening on the top of the water bottle.... I'm going to experiment with the measurements of water bottles before I go.
