Insulin Resistance And Ip

  • Just wondering if anyone who takes Metformin and/or Victoza has had much luck with IP? I am finding it very hard to go into ketosis. Any suggestions??
  • I was on metformin 1 500 mg twice a day...off within 6 weeks. Didn't find it effected me actually :/ Have you discussed with your doc?
  • I take 2 500mgs of metformin a day (used to be three plus insulin) and haven't had any issues getting into or staying in ketosis.

Why do you think you haven't already made it into ketosis?
  • I take 500 mg twice a day..I am only completing week 3 today but so far no problems , I will post this weeks loss tonight when i get home but so far 12lbs in 2 weeks..hubby says I have keto breath..lol
  • I am on metformin as well, 500mg BID. My doctor told me that because of the DM I would lose slower. Has anyone else noticed this to be true?

Um, nope! 73lbs in 15 weeks.
  • I quit taking my metformin right when I started, but often wonder if I would lose more each week if I were still taking it. I have been losing slower than most because of my IR, but none the less, been losing and am happy about that!!
  • I was advised by my doctor to NOT discontinue the metformin, regardless of how good my blood sugar levels were. IR will impact weight loss if you have it - you just hold on to more - so staying on the metformin has, apparently, helped me lose and ensure that I'm not holding on to anything extra.
  • I take 500 mg twice a day..had third way in tonight lost 4.6 this week for a total of 17.1 lbs in three weeks..I am very happy with it!

I didn't ask my doctor I just stopped it. Those pills make me so sick it isn't funny, so when I had the chance to just stop them, I did. I am happy with my losses so far, so I am not complaining and will not take those evil pills to lose another pound a week, I would rather do this longer than feel the way I did on the pills!!

    Jen,
You have done so well and look positively gorgeous and young!! Keep up the good work!
  • I have lost weight, a total of 42 lbs, but I've noticed that it seems to come off slower than most of the results that I've read on here. I'm not giving up by no means...a pound lost is a pound closer to my goal. Thanks for all the responses
