Going Up

  • Not sure what my body is doing this week, my points are fine, but I seem to be going up. Not the way I want to go obviously. I was wondering could it be stress? I know that it can be a bugger and do all kinds of things to us. Dealing with this constant pain, and then finding out it is RA and is not going away, has been a bit of a kick in the pants. Any ideas? I am again having WW soup on the stove for those times I need a little something, I really hope not to see this still here come Saturday morning WI.
  • It could be stress. Is it near TOM?
  • TOM is no longer a problem for me....55 August 1st and it has been years since that was a problem....don't miss it. I have wondered though if perhaps ones body still goes through some of that although there is no actual period. Thanks
  • Hmm good question, my friend had a procedure that prevents her period but she still gets the bloating and crampy feeling. Not sure if actually gone through menopause.
  • You mentioned that the RA is causing you a lot of pain. Are you feverish?

Last week, I had a canker sore in my mouth...which is pitiful (lol)...but it hurt a lot and made me feverish all week. The scale was not very friendly despite no changes in my usual eating. But now the sore & fever is gone, and the weight has dropped again.
  • Sally we are very close in age and like you I have seen my weight go up for no reason that I can pinpoint. I really think it does have to do with menopause and are activity levels. When this happens with me I have to scale back on foods with sodium and have a few veggie meals that seems to work....and really increase my water intake

I have no idea if I have been feverish...you would think I would know, but nope. I am fatigued today, and I am now going to a bit of research to see if all the Tylenol for Arthritis pain could have me retaining water.
  • I have made a big pot of green tea, and am having a cup, later I will make it all into ice tea. Green Ice Tea seems to really help me with water retention.
  • SODIUM...I made a large pot of veggie soup to help me through the week and I used Beef boullion to help flavour it. Just checked the bottle, should have done that before adding to soup. 2 tsp 1070mg. Darn the soup is really good to. If I want that flavour I am better off browning some lean beef and then adding the veggies and making the soup that way...count the soup as a point or two. Well at least I think I know what is messing with the scales. Me...lol
  • I'm 30, and I know when I get stressed my body retains water and also I won't have a normal BM (sorry, TMI). It sometimes takes a few days, even a week, for the stress to go away and for my body to go back to normal.

This just happened this week, and its unrelated to TOM. Our bodies do strange things sometimes.

Usually some exercise, lots of water, good, whole foods and patience are the key.
  • My weight has also done the same this week. Nothing to do with TOM. Just adjusting to the new decade 180s...
  • Sodium is a killer. I was 258.1 yesterday morning and 259.7 this morning, and I know it was because I had more salty foods yesterday than normal. I'm eating clean today, drinking lots of water and I will weigh on Monday and call that my weigh in for the week.
