Healthy Fruit Dip Recipe?

  • I am having Bunco at my house on Friday. I am serving a low cal tiramisu recipe, but also want to serve some fruit with a dip. I am a cream cheese & fluff kind of gal, need to find an alternative. Do you have a yummy fruit dip recipe that's low cal?
  • This is from memory, but in the past we've made a really delicious fruit dip with Cool Whip and Amaretto. You'd have to play around with the proportions a little to get the flavor right, but I believe it was this:

    1 container Cool Whip
    8 oz sour cream
    3 Tbsp Amaretto
    1-2 Tbsp brown sugar

Mix it all up and it's really good on fruit. You might add more amaretto or brown sugar, depending on taste. And of course if the alcohol is an issue that one won't work for you.
  • One of my favorite recipes for fruit dip is:

    1 cup of cottage cheese
    1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
0-3 packets of splenda (depending on your taste)

Combine in a blender and puree until smooth. You can add a squeeze of lemon if you want instead of vanilla.
  • I saw this dip on Pinterest a few days ago and haven't made it yet but it looks yummy!

  • its not a fruit dip .... but i have an idea for a fruit salad that is yummy

im indian , we make something called fruit chaat

i use green and red seedless grapes , honey dew , cantaloupe , apples ( mix

colors ) tangerines , strawberries , and if i can find it pomegranate seeds

the fruits get soaked in orange juice with a bit of salt and black pepper , it

sounds strange maybe but it is delicious

you can use any variety of fruit you fancy ... my mother puts alot of pinapple in hers .... i just use these fruits because i like how the colors look lol

( FYI there are usually more other spices used here my mother has informed me but this is how i make it ..... i dont care for too much spice i just like it a little mmmm factor i still want the flavor of the fruit to shine through )
  • another idea for a nice fruit dip is a nice creamy yogart in a flavour you fancy,

i stole that idea from the mcDonalds fruit and walnut salad the yogart dipping sauce is sooooo good !
  • You can also mix cool whip with fruit yogurt. Roughly 1 regular size cool whip with a 6-8 ounce container of yogurt. Whatever flavor/fat/sugar combination you like.

evilwomaniamshe posted a peanut butter hummus recipe a few months back - that was fantastic!

    Found it - http://www.thewannabechef.net/recipe...essert-hummus/
  • 8 oz container of low fat Cool Whip
1 "tube" of fruit flavored (raspberry and strawberry are both good) zero calorie drink mix - the kind that you put in a 20 oz water bottle to flavor it.

That's it - it's really good - let it stand for a few minutes before serving.

  • LinJber, that sounds super good and easy! I'm going to try that when the weather gets warmer.
  • I've used my "cheesecake substitute" recipe as a fruit dip.

It's simply sugar free jello or store brand pudding mix (any flavor) mixed with greek yogurt and completely optional Splenda or other artificial sweetener to taste (most pudding flavors are sweet enough, but some flavors I like a little sweeter).

I don't always measure carefully I use about the same amount of greek yogurt as the box calls for milk (so for if the pudding mix calls for 2 cups of milk in the recipe, I use about 2 cups or a pint of greek yogurt).
  • Kaplods - that sounds good - instant pudding or the kind that has to be cooked? Thanks.

  • yoghurt - put it in cheesecloth in a strainer, leave over the sink overnight.

in the morning, it'll be thick like cream cheese.

add lemon juice, grated lemon zest, and stevia for sweetness (or honey if you've got the caloric room - raw organic for favourite).

Instant, and you don't need a beater, you just stir the pudding mix into the greek yogurt until it's well-blended.

If you want the dip thinner, you can add some milk, but mix the pudding and the greek yogurt together first. For some reason the dry pudding mix blends into the greek yogurt really well, but it clumps if you try to stir it into regular yogurt or greek yogurt mixed with milk. So I blend the greek yogurt and pudding mix and THEN if I want it thinner I'll stir in some milk.
