My First 5K!!!

  • Hello Ladies!!!

For the past 10 weeks I have been training to run in my very first 5K & yesterday was the day!!!

16 minute/ mile (which is my best time) I DID IT!!!

I ran and it was so much fun!!! My sister ran in it also but she was way faster so it was awesome to see her at the finish line. On the way I saw many of our mentors that helped out in the class that I took. And of course as soon as I crossed the finish line, I cried =,) I was so happy to finally accomplish something. I signed up for the same beginners class so I can work on improving my speed and time. At the end of the next class the race I'll be running in is the 5K called Hook and Ladder. My sister said thats the fireman race. I asked if shirtless firemen would be cheering us on along the way. She said no. Rats! LOL I'm still looking forward to it. =D

So that's where I have been. I didn't lose a lot of weight when I was running but I did lose a lot of inches. I am planning to take my gym membership off hold and get back in there. We will see
  • WTG! It's awesome isn't it?

At my first 5K I had the wrong shoes and it was in UGGGH heat. But I learned something (only morning 5K or night ones) and I had a good time. So I went on to walk in others and even skipped 10K in favor of half marathon distance.

I want to get back to that place again so I loved hearing about yours. Great motivation for me and a SUPER achievement for you!

Keep us posted on the next one!
    A.
  • Yes this one was early in the morning & it was freeeeeezing LOL But after we started running we started to warm up.

You should definitely get back into it. I can't wait for the next ones to come. One day I will join my sister in a longer one but for now the 5K is a good distance.

I love the training method I am using. It's a walk/run method. I started by running 1 minute and walking 2 minutes & after 10 weeks I can run 4 minutes & walk 1 minute. Never thought I could lol.

I definitely will keep posting about the training. I'm anxious for the next class to start. It will in 2 weeks.
  • Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
