Sandy Sprint 5k! Ovarian Cancer Awareness!

  • I was a little unsure where to put this thread, hopefully this is appropriate!

A friend of our family has been battling ovarian cancer again for the second time. She is only 24 years old. She is very active in raising awareness and supporting the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Her friends and family have started a team called Lisa's Army. One of the things they participate in is The Sandy Sprint 5k. Last year my family and I participated in the event on our own team and I walked the whole time.

This year, we have joined up with Lisa's Army and are tying to make it the biggest team out there! And as a personal challenge to myself I would actually like to run/jog the event if I can. I have gained about 30lbs since last years event and I'm back in the gym working out and trying to get back into shape and drop that weight. I will be keeping track of my training and weight over on my blog.

I need as much support and encouragement as I can get ladies! I have participated in the breast cancer walk before as well but I have never ran or jogged any of them for that matter but always wanted to.

The event is on April 28 in Philadelphia, so I have a little less than 2 months to prepare! Anyone in the area interested in joining as well let me know!

So come on ladies..tell me to get off my big butt and keep hitting the gym!
