Diagnosed with NASH at only 21 and 143 pounds

  • I am just so confused right now and need to vent. At my highest weight, I was 162 and wore a size 13 pant and was only as this weight for like 6 months. Since than, I have lost about 20 pounds and now wear my regular size 11s (which I have been at for 4 years).

Anyways, I was having stomach pain and feeling sick back in November. It lasted a few days than went away. I changed my diet in January and started eating really healthy (still am). However, the pain came back at the beginning of February so I went to the doctor. He thought it was a gull stone so he sent me for an Ultrasound.

I met with him today and he told me I have NASH. Fatty liver disease and what looks like could be hepatitis (I am having blood work next week to confirm). I am just shocked. This is something that occurs in people who are obese or consume mass amounts of alcohol. I drink about twice a year. Pretty much my liver is being attacked by fat. He knows Ive been eating better since January and he says thats what he recommends to help with the condition, but until the blood work is done he will not know how bad my liver is and/or if I have hepatitis. He also recommended me going on a diabetics diet.

Does anyone have any more knowledge on this? He told me I have NASH (and then said in plain terms its fatty liver), but apparently there are 2 types (NAFLD) which is just a fatty liver and not really severe.. but then there is NASH which has inflammation (hepatitis.)... If I was get one, why couldn't I have gotten the non-severe one!!!!
