  • I just bought some PB2 and am looking for some good ideas on how to use it. I'm not crazy about using it as a straightforward substitute for regular peanut butter on toast and such as I love the real thing. However, I am interested in how people might use it in recipes, shakes, etc. Anyone have any good ideas?
  • I love using it in shakes! I currently make a shake with PB2, a banana, and strawberry banana yogurt. I usually put 2-3 tablespoons of dry PB2, pour a little bit of water in and mix it up. It's tastes HEAVENLY.

Be warned though, with that much PB2, it overpowers the other stuff. I love the taste of peanut butter though, so that's what I'm looking for If you want just a hint of it, you can probably go with just a tablespoon or even a half.

I've been trying to find recipes for peanut butter cookies (or create my own) that use very little sugar. I'll have to get back to you on that once I try making them
  • Thanks, sontaikle. I LOVE peanut butter, too. In fact, if it weren't so many calories, I could literally open up a jar and have at it as if it were pudding. So, the amount of PB2 you're suggesting would probably be just right for me.

So, you're saying that you don't put the PB2 into your shakes dry? You mix it per the directions before putting it in, right? Do you freeze your banana and/or your yogurt?
  • Honestly I could sit down to a jar of peanut butter too; I bought PB2 because I couldn't eat peanut butter any more just knowing how many calories were in it!

I put it in dry with everything else and dump some water on top of it. I find it mixes really well that way. One of the reasons I didn't like using actual peanut butter in my shakes (besides the calories anyway) is that I found it never mixed the right way to get a nice, even peanut butter flavor. Throwing the PB2 in dry seems to solve that problem.

I haven't tried it with frozen bananas or yogurt, but I want to at some point. If I want it cold I just put some crushed ice in, but with it being winter I'm not too concerned about that
  • Thanks, Sontaikle! I'm definitely going to give that shake a try.

I also Googled the website for PB2, and I notice there's a peanut butter cookie recipe on there. I recently ordered some NuNatural non-calorie, all-natural sweetener, and I think I may try making those cookies. I'll let you know how they turn out when I do.
  • Does PB2 not work as a regular spread? I just bought a bag online thinking I could use it as a spread on toast, etc.
  • @ Laura, yes, it works as a spread.

I used it for the first time this week, as a spread. I mixed in 1 teaspoon of regular PB and didn't think the PB2 overpowered it.

It does work as a spread it comes as a powder that you have to mix with water to get it to be something like peanut butter.

I just like using it in powder form for my shakes
  • I also sprinkle it on top of the all-fruit no-sugar spread on my toast, and sprinkle-and-stir into my oatmeal. I sprinkle it onto rice for that nonfat nutty flavor in my stir-fry.
  • The oatmeal idea sounds good.
  • Great, thanks!

I bet it would be yummy for Pad Thai as well. I wonder if I could find a low cal pad thai recipe?
  • Oh, I bet it would be GREAT for pad thai! I don't have a recipe, but a restaurant near me makes it with spaghetti squash instead of noodles.
  • Lin, you said you like eating peanut butter out of the jar, right? Well I followed the directions—2 tablespoons of PB2, 1 tablespoon of water—and just ate it out of a small cup. Sort of reminiscent of how I used to eat it right out of the jar, lol.

It was awesome just like that. I had Chocolate PB2 that way, but I'm sure regular PB2 is just as good. I've been totally wanting to just eat peanut butter off a spoon for a while now and this was perfect
  • My PB2 still hasn't arrived.....

One of my favourite "go to" snacks is peanut butter on a plain rice cake with a teeny amount of honey. It is soooo yummy and I'm looking forward to the calorie and fat count of my favourite snack going down considerably.
