I'm Baaack!

  • Some of you may remember that my husband was deployed and coming home in mid-July. Well because of his homecoming, vacation and a cross-country move for our family, I've been absent from the board. Sadly, I also fell off the "healthy lifestyle" bandwagon and managed to gain 6 lbs!

On Monday I joined the gym and began journaling my food again and I already feel SO much better! I'm now 10 lbs from my goal... but I know I'll get there eventually. I thought I would share photos of the homecoming for anyone interested. He deployed 9 days after our second baby was born and he was totally surprised by my 30 lbs weight loss. It was awesome!

    Our 6 month old.

You can't tell, but I was bawling my eyes out.

Seeing Ruby for the first time since she was a week old!

    Daddy's Boy

Reunited and it feels so good. Haha

I'm so happy to rejoin you all!
  • Welcome back!
You look really great! And you have a wonderful family!
  • Wow, I tip my hat to you for being separated for so long from your DH. Mine goes away once a year; my kids are 9 and 6 and I'm a nervous wreck without him. You all seem so happy. That's great.
  • Congratulations!!! You look amazing and your family is beautiful. Many kudos for your and your husband's strength and commitment. It's great to see you around again
  • Awwww! Thanks so much for sharing the photos and for your husband's service. You look AMAZING!
  • Your kids are so beautiful!
  • Hi beautiful family,
Kudos to your husband and you. Nice to see the commitment.2 littleones will definately learning good things in life.
  • Congrats on making it through the deployment! And look at those babies and their CURLS! So adorable! I'm new to the board, also a Navy wife. Is Chesapeake where you moved from or to?

Anyways welcome back to the board!

  • Thanks everyone!

Hi Katy! We lived in Va Beach in 2009 and '10, then I went bak to FL while he was deployed. We just moved back up here this month to Chesapeake.
  • Welcome back to the area! I'm guessing you fared well in the hurricane I never even lost power, but since I was sitting around waiting for the power to go out all day I didn't really eat any real food cause I was too worried I'd go to cook it and the power would go out! Now I'm back on track though.

    ~Katy
  • We were without power for 3 days! We just got it back this morning. I've eaten like crap, so I'm looking forward to getting back on track and going to the Y today.
  • Yeah it's like impossible to keep a good diet with no power! Do you like your Y? I joined One Life cause the one near my job (chesapeake square) has a pool and it's sooo affordable.

I love the Y so far! I looked into OneLife, but we'll be transferring back to FL in 6 months, so I couldn't make the one-year membership commitment. I hate how expensive the Y is, but it provides childcare, which makes it really worthwhile. I like the group classes I've tried so far, the equipment is nice, and there's an indoor pool, outdoor pool (and kid pool) plus a splash park... oh and a playground with picnic tables... You can't get better than that when you have a high-energy 2 year old!
  • Your kids are GORGEOUS!! And you, my dear, look amazing!
  • CONGRATS a Welcome Home to your hubby! We are a Navy family, and homecomings make it all worthwhile! :-)
