First "REAL" Post....NSV

  • I've been lurking for a bit...finally decided to register and now post. I have only lost a little bit (well, really just the 8 pounds I gained when I embarked on this journey...) but I HAVE made progress. When I first decided to start walking back in February, I could barely make it around my friend's neighborhood (one mile), walking, without having to stop to breathe or undo a cramp or chest pain....I thought I would literally DIE! This past Saturday, I registered for a 5K run/walk. I figured I would give it a shot, probably take me an hour to an hour and a half....my plan was to simply complete it. I was in the restroom when they started the race, so I had to jog a bit just to catch up, seeing how I was dead last and all... Once I caught up to the farthest-back walkers, I found a nice, comfy walking pace....and I finished! Not only did I NOT come in last, my time was just a hair under 53 minutes!!! Now, I know to those who run, that doesn't sound like a big deal, but to me....it IS! Just had to tell that...thanks for reading!
  • That's great! Health improvements are so important, and you're doing it!
  • That is awesome! You should be so proud of yourself. One more day in the win column!
  • Nice job! I've only ever done a 5K of walking leisurely.. but having the courage to sign up for a race like that is inspiring! I hope to be able to do that sometime soon.
