Pineapple?

  • Is pineapple allowed in phase 2? It is not mentioned in the fruits to enjoy list and is high on the GI, but I've seen some debate about it in other posts on here and was just wondering what people's thoughts were... Enjoy in moderation or avoid completely? Try it and see how it affects you? I'd like to make a virgin pina colada smoothie (light coconut milk, fresh pinapple, nf greek yogurt, ice) but didn't want to get a whole pineapple and not be able to use it!
  • Pineapple is on the foods to eat sparingly list for Phase 2.

    I do eat it on occasion and have not had any problems with it, but others may have a different reaction. I'd say to try it, and see how it affects you.
  • If you supermarket has pre-cut fruit, you may want to buy one small container of that instead of a whole pineapple, just in case it causes cravings and you don't want to throw a whole fruit away.
  • I'll have a piece or two at a buffet but don't usually buy it. I'd think a little bit in a smoothie would be fine.
