Not waiting for goal.

  • I hope it's ok to share this here, I need to talk with someone about it, and it's just not appropriate to share with people IRL.

I have an appointment to get my IUD removed next week. We'll see what happens from there! I wanted to wait until goal originally, but we're ready so we're going for it.

Honestly, I'm super excited but am very afraid of the impending judgment from friends and family. People tend to ask really stupid questions like "Don't you know what causes this??" and I doubt my ability to hold my tongue. Maybe it won't be as bad as I think and people will keep their opinions to themselves. Hey, a girl can dream!

  • Yay! Im excited for you! My parents had five and when people would be judgmental it was so upsetting to them.

But that is sooo exciting for you! Good luck conciving number 3!

And congrats on your weight loss so far!
  • My appointment was moved to tomorrow!

Ally - I'm one of 6, and my mom got a lot of people asking (rather offensively, IMO) if she knew what caused it. It baffles me that people think big families are nuts. I want a big family and I LOVE being part of a big family!

Delta - Thanks! I sure hope I can laugh it off. People are definitely going to know this one is planned since I'm on a fairly fool-proof method of birth control (and the women in my family talk about things like that.) But, it's my family and our decision... regardless of what anyone thinks!
  • Congrats and best of luck - our #3 was conceived the first month, a bit quicker than planned but of course we were thrilled. Big families are wonderful, they used to be the norm now everyone looks at you like you have two heads when you have more than two kiddos. Sending baby dust your way!
  • Aw Im excited for you. I just found out we are expecting our 4th child due Febuary 11th 2012 it was a huge surprise
  • Congratulations and hope it happens quickly for you! I only have 3 and people ask me if I know what causes it. I just tell them "Nope, but when I figure out what causes it then we'll be able to stop!".
  • I hope you get what you want. It's funny about people who use that "don't you know what cause this" It is not original , been asked for ages. Just try to brush it off, they don't actually expect an answer anyway.
  • Thanks for the encouragement, ladies. You are all wonderful.

IUD is out, now on to the waiting game. I weighed in at 231 at the Dr today and she gave me the go ahead to keep eating at weight loss calories until after my first trimester if I can.
  • Awesome! Good luck for a quick ttc! And don't worry about comments. I always throw in a bit about how excited we are. There's not much negative to be said after that.
  • Wishing you the best!
  • Lovely - your signature cracks me up! Rule number one: cardio!
  • Congrats, to you. I am trying to get to goal weight before baby #2. But I am having second thoughts on getting to 165 before trying. I might make it 175. My first pregnancy I was severly sick and vomited constantly for the first 5 months. I actually lost 25lbs in the beginning and then through the course of it put it back on plus 5 when I had my daughter. So postpartum I was 20lbs less than my pre-pregnancy weight. Which was HIGH, btw. But I am nervous I'll lose weight like I did with my daughter, then I would be 145lbs and for my frame, that is scary. I know every pregnancy is different, but I don't know.

As far as a big family, I think it is great as long as the parents can support the children. My husband is the middle of 5, and I like his big family, and I think it is great when they all get together. This next baby will be our last though, I'll be 34 in December and I am getting too old. Plus, I hate being pregnant, LOL!
  • Gale you know we have 5. I have heard everything from, Don't you and DH know when to stop?, to wow, we know what you two do all the time!, to my goodness give them time to grow! I've even been told by close friends when we got pregnant with our last, You do know there's a such thing as birth control? or Don't you think you are getting a little old? Like really??? None of our children were planned. We look at them as all in Gods plan. I say be happy and do what you want. I personally love being pregnant with the exception of gestational diabetes and having to take two insulin shots a day. But all in all even at my age now I'd be siked. We'll be 56 and 57 when our youngest graduates from high school, now I do think that's funny. Best of Luck to you and you husband

Latchkey I like what you tell people who ask you that dumb question

    ky congratulations to you

You know it!!! I don't wanna be zombie food!
  • McFatty (You're going to change your name to skinnymcskinny soon, right?!) -

You're not the first person I've met that hates being pregnant. I have a good friend that really wanted 4 kids but hated being pregnant so badly that they stopped at 3. I don't love being pregnant, but I don't mind it. Good luck to you for whenever you decide to TTC!

I agree that there definitely needs to be an ability and willingness to support a large family. That's part of the reason DH has spent so much time and money going to school (M.S. in Computer Science) - so that we can have a large family and afford for me to stay home.
