What's for dinner?

  • or lunch for that matter?


    I usually don't have a problem with breakfast - but am running out of ideas for dinner! It's got to be filling.

    Last night I had 4 point chicken burgers (made with ground chicken) very good - and filling.

  • Today for lunch I made a big pot of Taco Soup--modified to have all the things I like, and none of the ones I don't.

    I also made some Chinese Slaw and the Want More Salad from the WW Recipe forum on this board. They are both yummy. I had the Want More for lunch, with the soup, and will let the Slaw sit til tomorrow or Tuesday.

    I'm most guilty of having frozen dinners, or finding what I can get from a fast food joint for the balance of my points for supper.

    I'm new to the WW system--joined last week--so we'll find out tomorrow how I've been doing.
  • i am currently eating a smart one's TV dinner. they certainly come in handy! david and i usually cook together, but he's at a friend's this evening. me, im lazy. pop it in the microwave!!!
  • I buy ground turkey, and make chili w/it. I use Hunts tomatoes for chili, Chili Magic beans, lots of chili powder, and a little cayenne. I put it on a bed of whole wheat macaroni w/a cheddar flavored piece of soy cheese on top. Very filling. It makes a lot, so I freeze some servings like that. They turn out fine later.

    For lunches I like soup. I took some veggie gumbo out of the freezer today, I'll have it w/crackers & a piece of fruit for lunch tomorrow.

    Either that, or I'll make my own "dinners"--Some sort of protein (a grilled fish fillet, half a chicken breast, 2 turkey cutlets, a small steak, or some shrimp) some kinda veggie & some brown rice or pasta. I cook, season, and then put them in a Gladware container & take it to work.

    Dana, I like what you said awhile back about putting stuff on a bed of lettuce. Sometimes I'll do that w/shrimp, steak, or a can of albacore, only I like it on a bed of spinach leaves w/some mushrooms.
  • Yep.. everything goes on a bed of lettuce - get my veggies in and it looks like a lot more food I was finding that if made a "salad on the side" I was adding too much stuff like cheese or other high point items.
  • When I'm 'desparate' as in I didn't plan anything ... a can of low fat chicken or veggie broth and some frozen low cal veggies such as cauliflower or brocolli or green beans (or some of each) and a sliced carrot makes for a very filling soup. Add a few crackers and I'm full!


  • Being single..and cooking for only myself most nights...I am the worst person to give advice. I can have eggs every night for dinner and be happy.

  • you eat eggs every night jennifer! that's too cute. I eat eggs most mornings I love egg whites - this morning I had egg whites w/ onions on a toasted 1 point hamburger bun 2 points! then I added 3 slices of turkey bacon for another point. I swear i could be the spokes person for turkey bacon.

    Last night I had Ben & Jerry's Concession Obsession Ice Cream for dinner. Hmmm.... don't think that's OP.
  • My daughter made chicken tostadas. Baked corn tortillas, vegetarian refried beans, chicken cooked wth spices, topped with letter, lite sour cream and plenty of salsa. Yum!

    While it tasted good, the best part was that she cooked it!

    I have some pretty good low-fat supper ideas that I'll post later tonight or tomorrow when I have time to go through my recipe book. I've got WW Points plus nutritional info on all the recipes, too, which is nice.
  • tonight we are having good old fashion spaghetti 10 points.

    to go with it I will also have a boring 0 point salad and a 1 point dinner roll from, my fav, natural ovens.
  • Tonight it was roast beef, potatoes and carrots, modest portions. After dinner, a half cup of ice milk. then a pretzel nibble while I was cleaning. Split pea soup for lunch.
  • Tonight I made chicken-broccoli stir-fry. Cook two chicken breasts in strips, then throw in a bag of frozen stir-fry mix and fry them.
    Next, mix together and then add a can of low-salt chicken broth, 2 tbsp. soy sauce, 3/4 tsp. of ginger, 1 tsp. garlic powder and 2 tbsp. corn starch. I serve it on rice, very yummy!
  • Last night I made chicken in the slow cooker - so easy.

    4 chicken breasts (took them right out of the freezer) 1 can of cream of mushroom (ff) and 1 can of cream of celery (ff).
    Cooked all day - then added 1/2 cup of ff sour cream 10 minutes before serving over a bed of rice and green beans on the side.

    Very yummy... I think I will add some carrots to the leftovers.
