Munch, Munch, Munch

  • is all I want to do at work! I work nights (8pm-8am), taking care of two mentally handicapped women. They go to bed around 10-11, out of a 12 hour shift I actually work 3 hours.

All I want to do is snack...the plus side is I take my own food to eat. Therefore when i'm out of food I'm out. I'm working on timing out my meals and taking low cal healthy snacks.

Tonight is my off night so I'm at home....I still want to munch. Right now I'm fighting the urge to eat bbq potato chips. I'm not even hungry....just bored!

What are some filling low point snacks?
  • Air popped popcorn. This is one of my favorites, because you can use different toppings depending on whether you want something salty or sweet.

    Sliced fruit and vegetables.

String cheese. Or small cheese snacks.

Those are some of things I go for.
  • I usually go for fruits/veggies, but if you're eating out of boredom, nothing that you eat is going to fill you up. Can you bring something to work to do while the women are sleeping? (like knitting, crochetting, reading etc), that way you're kept busy and won't be wanting to eat as much out of boredom. I, too, am a total boredom eater, so the busier I am, the better I do....I only binge when i'm home alone with nothing to do (generally speaking). Good luck!
  • I read a book most nights. I'm not a crafty person!
  • Having a hard time today,I just want to munch ALL DAY!! Gotta get thru this, tomorrows a new day
  • I love carrots dipped in fat free ranch dressing or low-fat veggie cream cheese...mmmm
  • i'm a muncher too. i still munch but also like in the previous posts i try and choose healthier options.
carrots and veges dipped in hummus are good and the fat free pretzels are a favorite. i've also been making pizzas out of the flat pita breads. shoprite has a really thin one that's only one point and i put a little pizza sauce and the skim mozzarella cheese and bake em. so it comes out to like 3 points. I usually eat two for a meal or one for a quick snack that feels filling.
good luck. i've been doing the ww for a little over two months now and have lost almost 20 pounds. still got alot to go but it's a start.
  • One of my favorite snack thing is to take some med spicey Salsa and add some low fat or fat free sour cream. like 3 to 1 salsa to sour cream. then get a HUGE bunch of veggies.. carrot chips, snow peas, celery sticks, zucchini slices and DIP away.. by the time I eat all those crunchie veggies dipped in the yummy dip and drink a large glass of ICE Tea or other no sugar drink I am satisfied.. I need to CHEW and this really helps me a lot.. if I want more spice I just add a few shakes of hot sauce and go to town..
  • Every time you want a snack or wonder into a kitchen to get one, pour a glass of water or crunch up some ice and snack on that. You're eating out of boredom so keep the mouth busy with healthy things.

Maybe try some crafts? You might find you like them. I need to find new things to do or I wonder into the kitchen as well...
  • Extra Dessert Gum. I love it. It's like a party in my mouth and keeps my jaws busy. I currently have Key Lime Pie, Strawberry Shortcake, Watermelon, and Chocolate Chip Mint. YUM. They should really be paying me to endorse these. LOL.
  • I am a big snacker! That is my main problem at work too. Mostly because I sit at a desk all day and when i'm done with my paperwork then I sit and wait for the phone to ring. I know how ya feel LOL
  • I'm a muncher!

The newest thing I've done because it tends to be quantity not quality when i want to munch is slice a bunch of cucumber, lay it out on a plate and spray some wishbone ranch salad spray. It takes way less than the serving size so i don't even use a point. Sprinkle with a little lowry's season salt (it can overpower if you use too much), and good to go. Even has the crunch factor. I gotta agree with the salsa and sour cream also..that little bit of spice really helps.

    Have a great day!!
  • I chew a lot of gum to avoid the temptation to snack
