  • You know, the lump of fat behind the neck. I can't wait for that thing to melt away!
  • I haven't lost it yet but looking forward to the day it's gone!
  • I've never even noticed anything like that. Even now, I don't think I have anything like that-and if I do, I've never noticed it so I'll just pretend like it's not there.
  • I had it too and it seems that I stopped noticing it around 180-190.

My friend always said that I couldn't wear turtleneck shirts or cowl neck sweaters because I had no neck. Not true, I was just fat. I actually do have a neck now.
  • is that fat? I never had one even at 300+ but my bf has one, i figured it was from his horrendous posture.
  • mine has gradually gotten smaller, but is still there
  • i noticed mine was gone at around 206 or so. i always saw it when i leaned over and it made me soooo embarrassed =( but now its not there anymore and im 202 atm =)
  • I have it too, but I agree with a previous poster that it's (at least in my case), mostly as a result of poor posture growing up. If you press on it, you can actually feel where my spine curves outward there.

It has gotten somewhat less noticeable as the layer of fat melts off, and I imagine it will continue to do so, but I doubt mine will ever be completely gone.
  • mine left 30 lbs ago..ish.
  • I never had one of those either and at my biggest was over 265 (then quit weighing myself). It might be posture, it might me fat deposits, or a combination, our bodies start to stash that fat in different places at a certain point.
  • I'm so glad someone asked this question! I always thought it was there because I don't pay as much attention to my posture as I should, I've never actually felt it before and it is in fact just fat! Thanks to all of the ladies that answered, I'm really looking forward to mine going away now
  • My sister and I both have one... when she lost her weight (around 30 lbs or so, she's now 150 lbs and skinny for her height), she didn't get rid of it! My mom also has one, and she's only 10 lbs overweight or so. I think it's just the way we're built! I hate it, but I can't change it so there's no use getting worked up over it. Most people don't even notice
  • I always hated that hump. I started to see it go away once I got below 200, and now I have a nice flat area from my neck going down in-between my shoulder blades. BUT I lose weight in my torso/upper body the most. My legs are still HUGE, yet I can see my ribs. So I bet it will be different for everyone when fat loss happens there.
  • Oh man I hated that thing! I wish I could remember exactly when it went away, but it seems like forever ago now. My guess would be that I was probably in the 180s or so. Currently I can actually feel my bone there which is new for me. I, however, like the previous poster lose weight in my upper body first. My legs still have a ton of chub, but my collar bones and ribs are all about showing themselves quite proudly.
  • Still waiting for mine to go. It has flattened quite a bit, but is still there.
