Plateau after first week

  • Is it possible. My mom, sister and I all started this last week. I'm still losing but both of them have stalled at 6 lbs for 3 days. Any guidance is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • This happens to me all the time!! It's so frustrating. I will go down on the scale, then suddenly it will stop for about a week, and then I'll drop a few more pounds, and the cycle repeats. I do think I am loosing inches when the scale doesn't move though!
Give it time and trust in the program. Look at all the people who have had success, we're all different and the pounds/inches all move at different rates.
It's awesome that you're all doing it together though!!
  • Hmmm... Some thoughts:

    1. Is it that TOM?

    2. Do they weigh their food portions (other than packets)?

    3. Are they drinking all of the water?

    4. Are they having restricteds? Maybe they are those people that need the extra protein? ...or maybe their bodies can't handle the restricteds?

    5. I have read that Crystal Light and other drink crystals can stall weight loss for some people.

    6. Maybe they are doing too much physical activity?

    7. Maybe their bodies just need more time to adjust?
  • It's that TOM for me...but I am still losing some

My mom nor sister have been exercising since our coach said not to exercise until after the 2nd full week. They have done everything by the book so who knows. They both did lose 6 pounds in their first week which ended on Friday so I think they are happy with that....just not seeing the scale move after seeing that large of a loss in one week has them frusterated! I have lost 8.5 pounds and my week ends on Monday!!!

    Thanks for all the feedback!
  • GET OFF THE SCALE!!! It's not a plateau - our bodies don't lose weight in equal amounts every single day. Some days they might be up, some down. If they can limit themselves to weighing only once a week at the coach's, they'll drive themselves much less crazy.
  • Mrs. Dietrich is right, you can't expect an even loss every day. I remember when I used to do Weight Watchers and my weight would stay the same for 6 days, then all of a sudden go down 2 pounds on that 7th day. Just gotta wait it out
  • Still waiting but she is getting very frusterated. She was up 1# today. It is hard not to compare herself to me I guess...I have lost something everyday. I will tell her to stay off the scale, but they may be hard for her to do!
  • Ummmmmm....three days is not a stall. Three WEEKS?---that is a stall.
  • the first week I lost 11lbs. the second week I lost 2 lbs. and the middle of the 3rd week I was a little worried because my scale wasn't moving up, in fact it went down a lbs. I stopped going on the scale and by the end of the week I was down 6lbs.

I agree with tate, this is not a plateau. Maybe next week you wont lose a lot, and they will.
