Fiber

  • I've been eating Fiber One Cereal every morning but would like an alternative with lots of fiber and small volume. Any suggestions?
  • Why do you not want to eat the Fiber One anymore? I don't think you can get much more fiber-dense than that stuff unless you look at the fiber powders.
  • Not sure if this would help, because it is cereal...but Bran Buds...1/3c. has 13g fiber! I eat it with strawberries cut up in it. Mmm...
  • Lots of veggies, beans, fruit?

I get tons of fiber every day but I don't take anything that is fiber enriched.
  • I like the fiber one the best myself, but could also take a fiber supplement like benefiber or metamucil, or eat like Nelie suggested. If I feel I need a little something extra I use some ground flax seed.
  • I made a one minute muffin of ground flaxseed this morning but it was so big I could hardly finish it and it only has 8grams of fiber. I'm just tired of cereal and I've never eaten beans much I suppose because my mom rarely made them. I wish I could find a good recipe for beans that my family would like. Otherwise, I'm pretty good about fruits and veggies.

    Red Bean Burgers
Mash 1 can of red beans (drained and rinsed). Add 1/2 onion (chopped fine), 2 tbsp barbecue sauce, 2 tsp chili powder, 1/4 cup bread crumbs and salt and pepper to taste. Shape into 4 patties. Sautee in a lightly oiled/sprayed skillet until hot and nicely browned. Serve like a regular burger! 8 grams of fiber per patty, plus the fiber of the whole grain bun I know you'll choose to serve it on!
  • Thanks!
  • I wrap my (occasional) breakfast burrito in a whole wheat, high fiber tortilla. It's 45 calories and I think has 7-8 grams of fiber. Add some veggies into your wrap and you can get 10 grams easy.
  • I personally love Go Lean cereal (not the crunch-too much sugar) I think it has 13 grams of fiber per cup with only 140 calories!
  • carolr- just want to say that i love your avatar!!!
    snoopy is my fave!

i apologize for not having much to say on the fiber front. what about oatmeal? is somewhat cereal like, servings are generally small, and you can add mix-ins to make it fun. you know, its funny, fiber one makes everything now, but not oatmeal...
  • Sprinkle 2 tbs of Wheat Bran on top of your yogurt = 6g

I eat a lot of fruits and veggies and get about 30g-46g everyday.

Also, when purchasing breads, compare fiber contents, as well as on cereals.
