Ahhh... small victories

  • A member here said to me that I always post complaints about my journey and that got me to thinking. Yes, maybe you are right... maybe I do sound like I'm complaining all the time, and for that ... I apologize. I have a hard time admitting or voicing that I am doing well for some reason. I feel like its borderline bragging, and that's not me. But, I do see that sometimes, we need to share our victories and happiness, so.....

    My latest small victory?

Seeing and having all sorts of girl scout cookies all around me everywhere I go.... and passing them ALL up!

Best part.... I don't even want them
  • GREAT job! That's a hard one too - I picked up 6 boxes several weeks ago to support one of my coworker's granddaughters, and between my DH and myself, they were gone by the weekend That was during my "not just fallen off the wagon, but fallen off and burned the damn thing" period though lol, so I'm trying not to beat myself up too much about it anymore. But seriously, congratulations! GS cookies are little discs of purely evil, evil temptation aren't they?

On the flip side to your post, hey, you have to voice your frustrations and challenges that you're facing *somewhere*. I think we all know it's not always sunshine and daisies, and having people who share your feelings always helps make it a little easier to get through. But yes, definitely give yourself a pat on the back when you do well, NSVs or otherwise. Goodness knows you work hard for them!

    HTH
  • That is a great achievement. Those little GS cookies are so tempting. . . .
  • I have to walk very quickly past them at all the stores... I don't trust myself to buy them.
  • Brag away! It's important to share the positive stuff too, that's what motivates others!
  • If we do not even see what we can do. We can not measure even small successes. jewelswa 3fc

    1.measure it
    2.celebrate it!

it's not bragging. each success helps us feel motivated to the next mini goal, the next w/o, the next obstacle. AND when you post your successes, others are MOTIVATED by YOU! that's an awesome feeling. we can all be like ripples in a pond. helping each other out
  • and like no one else, we understand what that means. if you just told your neighbor they might look at you...yeah ok crazy lady...

but we GET IT! i love that about this site. saying no is really hard, and you are doing great!
  • YAY!
  • It's not bragging, but celebrating! And we are happy for you!
  • Yay! +1 for not even wanting them, that's always a bonus
  • Just think of posting your NSVs as posting motivation for other people! That is what I love this board, not only supporting each other when we are down, but getting excited about other peoples' progress, and knowing I can do it too!

Glad you turned that situation into a positive, a way to improve what you are doing. We learn something about ourselves all the time on this journey, don't we?
  • Great job! Me, too. Although I pass them up, I do want the girl scout cookies. However, my strategy of not looking directly at the cookies has seemed to help and kept the "I wants" to a bearable/manageable level.

omg, too funny!! I'm going to refer to them as this from now on!
  • YES they are discs of evil lol... and my strategy is to STAY AWAY from them. I haven't wanted any because I haven't touched, smelled or seen any... only the boxes .... so... that's what will keep doing
  • Complaint Desk Lady
I used to be a sounding board for customer complaints!
We can complain here...right? When family or friends don't get it-we come here! It can be a tough road and one that I've sadly walked many times. Some days I can't talk to my daughter 'cos she on her last 19 pounds and has "bad days" and watching intake is not what she wants to talk about (somedays it's ok).
Sweet stuff isn't really tempting me now, but when it does, yikes! I don't buy hardly anything that I like...just what the husband does.
