3 nights this week I have plans that will involve restaurant food. I get take out food all the time, but I make healthy choices and I go to the same places. These are challenging restaurants for me and I'm going to have to figure out what I'm getting. I HATE eating off of my routine.
Tonight, I'm meeting someone at this Mexican/ Cajun restaurant. They have salmon on the menu and that is always my healthy "go to" dinner. The problem here is that this is a place that automatically places a giant basket of chips and salsa on the table before the meal arrives. As much as I try to avoid eating any of them, I always cave in. I would normally tell them to not bring it out, but I'm going with someone else and I'm sure they would want to eat them. So wish me good luck on avoiding eating the fat laden and salty chips. Also, I feel like sort of a weirdo sitting there not eating the chips. Its like I have this giant "I'm trying to lose weight" mark on me. I've noticed that *not* eating something like that makes other people uncomfortable and I'm sure I will be asked why I'm not eating them.
Tomorrow, I'm going to this Italian/ steak house restaurant. Again, I might end up going with Salmon. Any other ideas for something healthy and relatively low-cal?
Finally, on Saturday I will be at this Mexican restaurant. I'm told we will all be trying the grasshopper appetiser, but after that, I have no idea what I can get. Yes, believe it or not, they also have a grilled salmon. I might be salmon'd out before this week is over.
I really want to stay within my calorie range and have a good week. I'm open to any strategies or thoughts about handling new places to eat. Luckily these are places with the menu online so I can at least plan ahead somewhat.
