sugar addict, no sugar or artificial?

  • first off let me say sugar is my weakness.
    i drink 3-4 20oz sweet teas a day.

    my problem is this.
    i hate artificial sweetners!
i can't handle the taste, and i really don't trust them. (especially with all the info you hear about it in the news and the studies on it.)

i love honey(local stuff, not that crap in the store with added hfcs)
i also like sugar in the raw as well as reg old sugar.

i just don't know if i should just cut the sugar cold turkey and just deal or ??

(i have tried about every artificial sweetner out there. just can't do it )

    help me please
  • I would just cut it out- that sweetener stuff IMO isn't good for you.

The first day or two while you are on withdrawals I suggest taking ibuprofen for the headache I guarantee you will have. I know I did!
  • Atkins would suggest you give it up completely and not use sweeteners anyhow, as they help you hold onto the addiction. good luck, its tough but worth it.
  • thanks,
so if you find a recipe that calls for a sweetner just omit it?
(or could you add more spices instead, i really want to try the low carb pumpkin cheese cake for thanksgiving lol )

i know its going to be hard, but i got to do it!
  • I have used splenda in a few things. It's not too bad. I don't have sugar cravings but it is a nice change. I sprinkle it on a slice of cheese with some cinnamon and cook it in the microwave. It makes a nice sub. for cinnamon toast.

As far as sodas, there is a brand called DietRite that uses splenda instead of aspartame (which most diet sodas have). It's not too bad. The cola version tastes alot like RC Cola if you're familiar with that brand. The plus is that it has zero, carbs,& zero calories. They have quite a few different flavors. I do know the more water you drink, the less soda you will want

    Best wishes on your journey.
