Do you want to be 'skinny'?

  • I just ask because 'skinny' has never been my goal. I know I will never be a rail, and I don't want to be. I still want butt and boobs and curvature and softness, but toned.

I sometimes marvel when I see on here, someone around my height with a goal weight in the 120's or so. Or even people taller than me with those low goal weight. Of course, everyone's body composition is different, and 120 on them, may not look like it would on me.

My goal weight will not put me at 'skinny' or rail thin, but certainly slim, but with enough weight on to still be voluptuous.
  • Want to be, yes. More than a lot of things. But I had to let it go because "Skinny" is not in my cards. Athletic, toned, muscular...absolutely. But these bones and muscles are not going to get me to "skinny". I tried once, and I ended up looking sick and losing my hair, and some muscle I had to work hard to rebuild. So no more.

Luckily, these bones and muscles also make my arms look killer in a halter top, and make me strong to lift and run. So I've come to peace with them.
  • You really can't judge what someone looks like by their height and weight listed on a forum. You have no idea what they actually look like. I never wanted to be skinny—and I'm not. What I am is petite. I still have curves and I have a lot of muscle: it all just comes in a small package. I've been small all my life, never over 129 at my full height. Some people are just built that way.

um..I'm not 'judging' what x person will look like at their goal weight. I just ponder it especially when I see someone of average or above average height and a really low goal weight. OBVIOUSLY I have no clue what they really look like or what their body makeup is.
  • My goal is 120 at 5'4/5'5 (well, 5'4.5). I was at that size when I got pregnant. To me, it's not skinny, it's my normal size.

"Skinny" to me implies little strength. I prefer to think of my goal as athletic

"Rail" and "skinny" versus "voluptuous".... Your words. People often equate a low weight with "skinny" and assume that thin does not mean curvaceous. That is often not the case. In fact, I know two women who are 5' and probably weigh 90 pounds soaking wet who are actually quite curvy.

And, well, some women aren't curvaceous at lower weights but it's a normal weight for them, anyway. They are athletic and healthy, but they might not have been curvaceous even at their highest weight.

I'm not trying to start an argument here. I'm not even offended. I'm just basically saying what you did: every body is different.
  • Quote: I want to be strong and fit and to me, that's the opposite of skinny. in my mind, skinny has always implied weak and unfit.
    This.
  • I just want to be at a healthy weight and for my height thats 120-125. thats all im looking to do. too skinny is too gross
  • Onherweighdown,
When I think of skinny, I think of skin and bones, and not necessarily 'healthy.' I want to be slim, toned, fit, healthy! I remember when I weighed 145, which is my goal I was slim, I wore a size 4/6, and felt pretty darn good! I had some curves, but I was pretty fit. Once I get to 145 this time I want to tone and tighten and build more muscle. I know what you mean when you see people that are 5'8" and their goal is 120...I often think, is 145 too high for me seems as how I'm 5'4"? I think you should get to a weight that you're HEALTHY and you feel good, whether it's 120, 160 or somewhere in between.

Congrats on your weight loss thus far! Where in NC are you, by the way?

And then there are girls like me that don't have boobs no matter what size they are. Same small A cup at 165lbs and 9 months pregnant as they were at 100lbs in high school... I just can't catch a break

But then how would we respond if someone came here and said "too fat is too gross"? There are millions of naturally skinny people around.....
  • Sacha - you think an A cup at 165 was bad?? I was BARELY a B cup at nearly 300 lbs. THREE HUNDRED POUNDS and still no boobs.

A good point. That occurred to me, too, after posting. In fact, the percentage of women in this world who have an hourglass figure is pretty low. There are a lot of body shapes out there.

One time in my car I drove by this woman who was about 5' 10" and very, very slender—no curve to her—and there was something about her that was so strong and lithe and elegant that I was struck by her. Beauty comes in all forms. And who is to say that that wasn't natural for her body? I've known women who have been thin like that their whole lives.

Haha, I guess some of us just can't catch a break eh??? What confused me at 165 was that I thought your boobs get at least a wee bit bigger if you are 9 months pregnant though??? Nope. We're doomed I suppose!!!
  • I want to be fit, athletic.

I love to exercise i cannot believe i hated it.
