Rico Salad at Mi Cocino

  • Anyone from Texas???
I went to Mi Cocino for luch and had the Rico Salad. It has lettuce, tomato, grilled chicken (roughly 4 ounces), avocado (about 1/4 of an avocado), cheese (maybe 1-2 ounces), and bacon (MAYBE 2 slices but probably closer to 1). I do not use dressing. So I go to look it up online and I find 791 calories, 6 grams fiber, and 52 fat grams; which is 19 points????
Is this right? What am I missing here? I would have guessed 12-14 points??
  • I'm not doing Weight watchers so I don't do points, but the Sonoma diet limits fat and restricts the type of fats used. Avocado is an allowed fat.

Since you ate it you own it and should probably count it as calculated .

But if it makes you feel better look up the nutritional value of 1/4 avocado and subtract that from the total fat, calories and fiber. Then calculate the salad and decide if that amount of food was "worth" that amount of points. Then add the avocado as a separate item. An occasional serving of a high nutritional food like that can only be a good thing in my mind.
  • I'm from Texas! I've never been there though. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
  • Don't panic, it only comes out to around 10 or 11 points - explanation below!

The 791 cals and fat probably includes dressing. So you can subtract around 350 calories and 30 grams of fat for the ranch dressing (that is the nutritional value that Cosi uses for their ranch).

    So that brings you to 441cals, 22fat, 6gfiber = 10 points

Great call on skipping the dressing!
  • Thanks shytowngal. That makes more sense. All these tricky littel things to learn.
