How do you measure your mini goals? Newbie here

  • Hi all,
I am new to 3FC and am wondering how some of you set your mini goals? I've seen a few 10% goals. Do you just keep doing that, 10% at a time or do you do actual pounds......
I need to start somewhere.....10% would be 24 pounds for me. Is that an average mini goal or too hefty.
    Thanks everyone
  • I've seen all sorts of mini-goals, scale and nonscale. I think it depends on what will motivate you. If you think you'd be more motivated by looking at it in chunks smaller than 24 pounds you should do that, but if 24 pounds works as a mini-goal for you, I say go for it. My personal mini-goal which I am currently working on is 46 pounds, so 24 certainly isn't totally outrageous.
  • 10% is a nice goal because there are supposedly healthy advantages to losing 10%. Judith Beck in The Beck Diet Solution recommends setting a goal to lose 5 pounds. And, then, do it again. You can see below that I pretty much use anything that has meaning to me for my mini goals.
  • I've seen people set mini goals by inches, BMI's or minutes of exercise. I would say the most popular would probably be an even pounds loss (10lbs, 20lbs, 50lbs, etc) or by a 'milestone' (250lbs, 200lbs, 150lbs, etc).

It's totally up to you! There's no ryhme or rule to it!
