  • I have religiously taken measurements all of the past 2.5 years of losing weight. When I was 218-224 pounds before, I had certain jeans, shorts etc that fit me great. I also took my measurements.

Then I regained up as high as 245 and battled the pounds all this time... finally now I am 223 again but OMG, did the fat settle in DIFFERENT places. When I regained, it went ALL to my belly and hips. And as I lost it again it came off my WRISTS, my neck, my waist and rear, but not the belly and hips. So now I am left trying to fit into clothes that fit me GREAT the last time I was this weight but really don't now. My pants gape at the waist, are super tight in the belly (I have to unbotton them sometimes!) and SAGGING in the thighs and butt. It's ridiculous looking, like I need to be wearing a size down but my belly is the only thing too big. (Oh. And now my boobs are way smaller, too).

Not sure what to do but wear them until more weight comes off... sheesh!
  • that's rough, where the weight is going to go/come off is unpredictable. I know that I'm now carrying a lot more weight in my face and stomach then I did before. I figured it was just due to changing hormones as I got older.

Hopefully as you continue to lose weight your belly will melt away! and I suppose think of how fun it might be to buy a few new outfits to fit your new body.
  • I have noticed this in myself, especially with one particular top. I bought it for a friend's wedding 2.5 years ago and I weighed 248 pounds and it fit perfectly. I eventually gained weight back and was almost 280. Since restarting, I have tried the shirt on at various points and only now, at 229 pounds, would I be willing to wear it out of the house! I am an apple shape and my weight is VERY concentrated in my stomach and that's the area that made the shirt continually unwearable!

I'm hoping it gives a little soon... I can still wear jeans that I wore 40+ pounds ago!! I admit I need a belt now, but still, I would expect them to be unwearable... My stomach just stays huge! Grr!
  • Oh ladies, this is ME TOO! It's so frustrating!!!

My thighs and calves are normal sized, boobs are smaller, back fat is mostly gone, neck and face are slimmer, arms are slimmer. Belly and hips, just stay!

From a front view, at least I have some waist definition now, but in profile I'm all round belly.
  • I have shrunk all over, but my belly is still entirely too prominent - waist is an entire size behind the rest of my lower body. And, for whatever reason, my face looks exactly the same as it did 40 pounds ago. Bogus...
  • calluna -

My face still looks the same too - I look MUCH bigger in the face than the rest of me, which really sucks. I had some photos taken of me and my son and I was so excited because I thought what with almost 40 lbs gone, I'd look nicer finally and I looked awful. so disappointing.
  • Yep, me too! The worst part for me this time is the part of my torso between my waist and my breasts. It's just this big ol' roll and I hate it. On the other hand, for a 240lb woman, I have some awesome legs . The thing is, I've always been hourglass shaped and I still am - my body goes in significantly right at my waist, but in clothes, you can't tell because of that under boob roll and my stretched out, post three babies, lower stomach.
  • Story of my life. My butt and legs are thin, so I'm all stomach/love handles. I hate buying jeans because they just never look right.

Some famous designer needs to read this thread and figure out how to design clothes better
  • Your hormone levels might have changed. Stress, perimenopause, etc, can cause us to gain weight around our middle.
  • I'm just one huge fat shelf in the front between under my boobs and the top of my legs-- if you blocked that part out, I look normal weight.

It really is a classic middle-aged look.... but that doesn't stop me from HATING it.
  • I have these huge floppy things attached to the bottom of my arms. Batwings just don't describe them. I could wear at least one size smaller if it weren't for these HUGE arms.
  • I feel you time2lose...
  • Not only do I have a big belly, but the love-handle rolls on my left and right sides are markedly different sizes (the right is much bigger), so much so that they look different under clothing. So HAH, how's THAT for uneven and weird, all of you!

Sometimes I don't think my belly button is centered in my belly. Does that count?
  • Quote: Sometimes I don't think my belly button is centered in my belly. Does that count?
    Possibly. Have you measured it?

My belly button isn't where measurement stuff always says it "should" be. Because I'm short-waisted and long-legged, it's below my actual waist line, and was even when I was young and thin. It's probably even more so now that I have a droopy fat belly.

Yay for bodies! I love mine, even with its weirdness.
